Amanda and Suzie were fantastic. They were patient and extremely knowledgeable on how to engage first time riders (Although we were not) and make the experience enjoybale. My daughter was already talking about booking the next visit before we even got off the horse!

Went to a friend's art show at this winery. A fun drive to get there, along the Horses & Hounds Scenic Byway--very pretty! A pleasant setting & the wine tastings were reasonably priced. Will return...

The Carroll County Arts Council Building has art deco decorations in the theater that have been carefully restored. It is a super place for large local meetings, small theater events and foreign films that are carefully chosen and shown in the theater.
Even better, they host a wide variety of art exhibitions, showing local and regional art chosen by the expert curator of visual arts.
The forward thinking director planned a Peep Show for Easter some years back and now it is nationally known. More than 20,000 people attend.
One of the best shows of the years is the members show, that all members have an opportunity to participate in. The level of talent in Carroll County is incredible.
The art galleries are free and there are charges for some theater events and those that are held when the gallery is rented by others.

My hubby and I enjoy a walk on the paved trail at the Leister Park. It is easy walking, jogging or a running path.

The Lions Club has maintained this park for years. Playground and ball fields. Great placed for the little league teams. Our kids and grandkids have grown up with this park and have enjoy it. There is also a pool that is open to the public. Go and enjoy.

My husband and I went here to enjoy the cool fall weather. This is a beautiful spot and is much more quite than other recreation areas we have visited (Loch Raven, Gunpowder, etc). We found some parking spots on either side of a green bridge over Beckleysville Road & went exploring. Both sides afforded beautiful views of the reservoir, and all very close to the road. We went early one morning and enjoyed watching the sun rise over a line of trees. It was quite cold a couple of days (ok, just in the 40s, but that's cold for October!) and there was steam or mist rising from the water, adding a very ethereal effect.
There is a boat launch area about 10 minutes from this bridge, on Spooks Hill Rd. It is another really pretty area that we enjoyed photographing, especially with all the early fall color! The drive there was equally scenic.
A short (15 minute) drive from the boat launch is the dam itself. This dam has a quaint brick road across the top with a sidewalk on either side. The view from each side is beautiful. One side has the reservoir and in early morning light, beautiful reflections of the trees. The other side looks down on the dam itself and out to gunpowder falls river. There is a set of stairs that takes you down further towards the dam on one side of the road. On the other side, there is a trail that takes you thru the woods along the lake.
We really enjoyed this spot, and look forward to exploring the trails more.

We spent a few hours with the really friendly folks at the Sunflower Garden Farm. Our two little granddaughters really enjoyed. We cut our own bouquets and they were inexpensive and have lasted a while. Truly an enjoyable afternoon for the whole family!!

We spent the afternoon here using the pistol range. Nice place to shoot outdoors, not crowded when we went right after lunch.
