A wide selection of quality fabrics and haberdashery for quilting, dressmaking, crafting and general use. Sewing tuition and craft workshops each week.
Great place for all your craft needs (if they haven't got stock of what you want, they will contrive to source whatever it is that you want); fabulous classes for both the experienced and inexperienced crafter/ hand or sewing machine enthusiast. Helpful friendly staff. Loads of fabric, very reasonably priced. It's not a place where you just 'pop in' for two minutes - so much to take in.

Bought quite a few chocolate christmas gifts this year and I'm having such excellent feedback, everybody loves them. There's something for every budget and the quality and deliciousness is just the same ... if you haven't yet bought chocolates from Jackie, you really should :-)

Once the world’s largest carpet factory, Dean Clough has been faithfully restored to become a leading commercial hub within the north. Home to over 150 businesses that range from individual or partnership ‘start-ups’ to companies with over 1,000 employees, the site now hosts over 4,000 employees. Dean Clough has one of the largest private galleries in the country, with six separate galleries as well restaurants and a theatre and is a destination for over 60,000 visitors every year. The continual development of the site has seen the emergence of retail units, encompassing shops and hair and beauty salons, to name a few. At Dean Clough you will find the Viaduct Theatre, Travelodge hotel, Jack Wills outlet store, Riccis Tapas, Mill Bar & Kitchen and Babar Khan's restaurants, Stod Fold bar, the Loom Lounge & Engine Room cafes, The Arches (conference/wedding venue) and Ed's Urban Eats. This combined with the galleries, public art and the office space make for a unique urban village.
We visited Dean Clough as part of a day out in Halifax. I have visited Dean Clough before to see Northern Broadsides. This time we went specially to look at the art. So much to see! A lovely collection of still life paintings were next to reception . Beautiful paintings showing lots of skill and deft handling of oil paints. The big gallery had an exhibition of photographs and drawings. I loved the photos of the people at work but failed to see the point of the drawings! The school photos were a little boring. The Inkers exhibition was a little unexciting. I liked the majority of Doug Binder’s painting but has he got stuck in a groove? Enjoyed the interesting photography on the top floor but found the paintings on the middle floor disappointing. The Lego construction of Dean Clough is amazing as are the photos of the old mill workers and machinery. The place is huge like a rabbit warren but houses so much art! Well worth a visit if you have an hour or two to spare in Halifax.

This is a beautiful building and a real asset to Halifax... there are some really good stalls... A personal favourite is Grosvenors for cooked meats and pork pies, really nice quality food that knocks spots off the supermarkets! Outside the market are a couple of fish stalls which are very good too! Would love the market to be dog friendly, would spend more time there!

Westgate Arcade is the boutique shopping and dining venue at the heart of Halifax. With an unrivalled mix of shops and eateries, Westgate Arcade has something for everybody. With recent investment to modernise the Arcade, it is set to stay a leading destination in the region.
Not the biggest arcade but refreshingly original. You will like the independent shops such as the shoe shop (loved that one) and away from the hustle of the Piece Hall this is fine place to find a meal and it ain't so crowded, Well worth taking a look at and walk through.
