This day trip out to the Douro valley was the highlight of of two week trip around Portugal. Diana, our guide and the company are well organised and efficient. Diana was very knowledgeable, unhurried, good-humored and made our trip very enjoyable. After a pleasant boat trip on the Douro river admiring the scenery of the valley and just relaxing, we went to a small little winery close by up on a high hill with great views over the valley. Here we had a tour on how they make olive oil, afterwhich we had some wine tasting, together with almonds, bread and local olive oil. This really got everyone relaxed and in an enjoyable spirit. We were then taken back down the valley to a restaurant for lunch and enjoyed good company with good food and wine. In the afternoon we were taken to a larger wine and port producer and had a tour on how they make Port, followed by some port wine tasting, which was very yummy and enjoyable. From here we headed back to Porto, but after all the wine and Port, we slept the whole way home. Overall, a great experience with professional company and superb guide.

Guimarães, a city of medieval origin known as "Cradle of the Nation", was classified in 2001 as World Heritage by UNESCO. Guimarães has a prominent role in the history of Portugal, and where the battle of São Mamede paved the way for the foundation of the Portuguese nation. It was from here that the conquest of Portugal from the Moors began, by D. Afonso Henriques (1st king of Portugal). Braga, founded by Romans under the name of Bracara Augusta in honor of Emperor César Augusto, it is currently a charming city and the oldest in Portugal with more than 2000 years of history. It is one of the main religious centers in the country, and where the oldest cathedral in Portugal is located. In the long journey through the history of the city, we can find several styles, from Roman to Baroque, with the beautiful houses of the 18th century.

My wife and I booked an all-day private tour of the Alto Minho region of Portugal with Brand Tours and couldn't have imagined a better experience. Not only did Xavier and Rui bring us to magical places, but they were so well-versed in the history of the region, and that knowledge made our day so much more interesting and meaningful. We visited ancient villages and saw old corn storage units from the 1700s that are still in use today; we explored old forts and climbed towers with spectacular views; we ate lunch in a small place where the locals eat and sampled the local fare including delicious sausages and a special wine. The proprietor even gave me the drinking glass I admired! Rui and Xavier literally went the extra mile to bring us to the top of a mountain in a national park where we looked into the valley and marveled at the beautiful views. During the course of the day, we discovered all we had in common and ended up as friends by the time we were dropped off in the evening. It was a perfect day with perfectly professional and friendly guides. I highly recommend Brand Tours for the tour of a lifetime!

Follow us on this tour that will give you a breathtaking view over the villages and fields of the Cabreira Mountain Range. It is a journey that combines the pleasure of hiking with beautiful scenery. The steepest and most technical areas will be avoided. We will wander along rural paths lined with green vegetation that carry us to times gone by. The landscape is composed of small villages and agricultural areas. We will climb until the top of Malhadouro at 754 meters high were we can enjoy a panoramic view of the region. In this area, it is common to sightsee wild horses that roam the mountain range, as well as cattle and goats characteristic of the region. Following our course we will soon arrive at the village of Pedraído and from there we will go by rails to our starting point. The route does not allow meals in catering units so we advise the participants to carry food and drink necessary for the entire journey.

Our tour begins in the typical village of Sistelo also called "Little Tibet". We will mostly use cobbled paths that will take us through fields and villages, giving us a wonderful view of a landscape marked essentially by terraces where the cultures are carried out and which are the origin of the name "Little Tibet". We will continue our tour using also the catwalks and the Ecovia of the River Vez that with its green banks completes a frame worthy of the most idyllic places. We end our journey again in the village of Sistelo. The route does not allow meals in catering units and it is, therefore, the responsibility of each one to carry the food and drink necessary for the entire journey.

On this visit, our proposal involves understanding the limits and surrounding areas of Iron Age settlements, observing the most important artefacts and parts of the excavations, but also walking through the rural/natural areas that still preserve a unique genesis based on the legacy of cereal cultivation and storage. The discovery of wonderful landscapes and true natural treasures, the mills and huge slopes dedicated to the transformation of cereals, are truly the key components of this visit that will make you realize that the changes in the landscape, customs, and daily life of these populations didn't change that much, even after more than two thousand years of history. In some places time passes slowly, leaving the roots uncovered. The authentic Portugal!
Inclusions: Regional with drinks, Air-conditioned vehicle, Attraction tickets with guided visit

My wife and I have just returned early from a trip that incorporated a tour through Spain and Portugal organised by Portugal Trails. Although the outbreak of the Covid19 pandemic prevented us from completing the tour, we were highly impressed by the thoughtful and meticulous pre-planning provided by the company, the quality of all bookings and recommendations as well as the attention to our welfare during the growing emergency. The cancellations and refunding of unused portions of the tour were efficiently and quickly completed with a minimum of fuss. I cannot recommend this company too highly.
