What to do and see in Guanajuato, Guanajuato: The Best Literary, Art & Music Tours

It is an experience that mixes tourism and art throughout San Miguel de Allende where we meet artists in their own workshops where they do painting, sculpture, textile art, Mexican folk art and more styles. The artists receive us and tell us about their creative processes (techniques, inspiration, etc.) while we have a glass of wine and eat tapas, the tour can be personalized and private or in a group.

Highlights: • Diego Riviera Studio • Experience the life, artistic way and love of Frida and Diego • Led by a bilingual guide What to expect: Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera helped to define Mexican modernism while engaged in a tumultuous romance. On this 2-hour tour we’ll get a glimpse into the life of Mexican artists. Our visit will take us to the Diego Riviera Museum, his former abode and where many of his works were created. We will get a sense of how he once lived and worked. We’ll engage directly with his history as we surround ourselves by his artwork, clothing, photos. We’ll pop to the streets of Guanajuato, talk about the Rivera and Kahlo’s life in different ways. Stepping in the former abode, we will learn more about the unique Diego and Frida life.

It's considered to be the biggest art movement that's ever been in the history of the world." - Martha Cooper, world-famous expert & photojournalist of graffiti. Decriminalization of Street Art came in 2013 with colonia Guadalupe's Muros en Blanco Street Art project. Since that time, numerous Street Art murals have popped up. This educational experience of the murals in colonia Guadalupe is offered in English with Colleen Sorenson (founder of the Muros en Blanco project) and in Spanish with Arturo Aranda, (founder of Art Tour SMA experiences). They offer the factual explanations of the murals (from the artists themselves...and why this matters), the history of the Street Art movement in San Miguel de Allende and how it has evolved over time since 2012.
