Gualala Bluff Trail

This short trail in downtown Gualala can be accessed through the Surf Motel parking lot and next to the Vue Kitchen Restaurant. The trail goes behind three motels/inns and other commercial buildings and follows the Gualala River. There are views of the river and the Pacific Ocean and benches along the way. Parts of it are relatively flat and other parts a bit more challenging.

This is a must do when visiting this small town. If you have 10 minutes you have time to do this. There’s a great little coffee shop on one end and there are lots of dining options throughout in case you want to complement that with the trail. People walk as families, solo, with dogs etc.

Gualala River

A perfect river for first-time canoers or kayakers since the waters are calm and non-threatening.

We stayed at a place where our view was the river and the ocean- magnificent. We went kayaking on the river and had a picnic lunch. Lots of fun! The river was very shallow at one end and we had to get out to walk the kayak to a deeper place. When we went toward the ocean, it was super.

Gualala Arts Dolphin Gallery

Reviewed By relaxed53 - San Jose, United States

This small gallery displays and sells original paintings, sculptures, handmade quilts, tasteful cards, bowls, jewelry and photographs. It is staffed by local friendly volunteer artists, and 30% of proceeds go to Gualala Arts, the local venue for art exhibits and concerts. This is not ridiculously expensive local original art like you might see in Carmel, San Francisco, or Laguna Beach. There are beautiful earrings for $20-45, wall and table pieces for $35-250 on average. Yes, some pieces by more renowned artists or which are larger are several hundred, but for average visitors looking for a tasteful gift or keepsake representing the area, or to beautify their homes, this gallery and shop is a key place to check out. There is also tourist information. Easy parking, usually closed Tuesdays.
