We mostly come here to visit the Barnes & Noble and Half Price Books. While the Barnes & Noble is part of the mall complex, it is in a separate building with the Cheesecake Factory (this is where the old L. S. Ayres used to be located before it closed and was torn down in 2006). It is complemented by the Half Price Books across the street. The former has a good selection of new books and magazines, as well as having a coffee shop (this one is owned by Barnes & Noble - although it serves Starbucks products, you can use your Barnes & Noble card to get 10% off beverages and can also checkout your book purchases - which is sometimes nice if the main register is backed up like it was on our last visit). Of course, Half Price has great deals on remaindered and used books - we often good $30 to $50 books here for $5 to $10, but still in excellent, often new condition. Of course, we also hit the other shops here - from the anchor stores (J C Penney, Macy's, and Von Maur - Sears closed at the end of 2018 and the mall management is still working on its replacement(s)) to specialty stores like Hakky Shoe Repair (we had a piece of luggage repaired there a decade ago and it's still going strong!). We often eat lunch when we're here - although there are restaurants in the mall (Johnny Rockets comes to mind), we often eat at places nearby - Portillo's or Skyline Chili for hot dogs or the Tamale Place for some of the best tamales you'll ever find.
