St. Edmund’s is a Grade1 listed church that is no longer used for regular worship but remains a consecrated church and is vested in the care of the churches conservation trust and looked after in partnership with the friends of St. Edmund’s church . St. Edmund’s is a unique historic building built by a wealthy Freemason and is full of fascinating symbolism a true historic jewel set within a diamond plot regular events and open days as well as guided tours are available the building remains free to enter but fundraising to keep this beautiful historic space open to the public is vital the church is open every first and third Saturday of the month and also open by arrangement by contacting either the friends or the CCT

A stunning church, welcoming and steeped in history. Has to be worth a visit if ever in Middleton. Also have a wander around the graveyard and Old Kankys.

I took a tour of Victoria Hall in the centre of Bolton, together with other U3A members from Preston. Although the entrance was not particularly striking, the building was huge inside. Our excellent guide, Barry, took us on a two hour guided tour, exploring the various rooms, including the church which was built in the style of a music hall, the projector room and the museum. We were particularly fascinated by the Victorian cloakroom. Barry gave us an interesting history of the building and kept us all enthralled with his amusing tales. Thoroughly recommended.

The church is beautifully kept and for me brings back childhood memories from when I lived and worshipped in the area. The community work hard to ensure the Oratory offers a beautiful place of worship. We visited at a time when there was not a service or mass and spent time admiring the architecture. Also the statues etc and everything which compliment the style of the church.

Welcome to the page of St. Mary the Virgin, Bury, commonly known as Bury Parish Church. We welcome everyone to visit us, no matter what religion you do or don't follow! We are a Church of England parish, steeped in tradition. There has been a church on this site for over a thousand years and we now have this magnificent Grade I listed building in the centre of Bury. We welcome everyone that wants to visit our church, whether for religious reasons, or to explore its history, architecture, its links with The Lancashire Fusiliers, to seek refreshment in The House On The Rock coffee shop, or browse in its book and gift shop area. The church and House on the Rock are open for visitors on daily, except Tuesdays. Friday Lunchtime Concerts are held on Fridays at 12.30pm from September to July. Sunday services at 8.00am, 10.00am and 6.30pm
The coffee shop in Bury parish church is a sanctuary in more ways than one. It is an oasis of tranquility in a hectic world. The service is always friendly, the coffee reasonably priced and you get proper butter with your teacake. Heartily recommended.

This is such a beautiful church and the staff were welcoming as we wandered in in late December. There was a choir who sang a carol an they told us they were singing around the town but some knew the church so did want to sing there. Beautiful
