Founded in 1991 by actor and Chelsea native, Jeff Daniels, The Purple Rose Theatre Company is a leading professional theatre dedicated to producing new American plays and classic stories that speak to audiences in the midwest. A 501(c)(3) not-for-profit professional theatre, the Purple Rose produces 4 plays in each year-round season. Performances take place 7 times per week (Wednesdays through Sundays), with nearly 250 performances per year. Located in the charming city of Chelsea, Michigan, just west of Ann Arbor, the Purple Rose Theatre provides live entertainment for nearly 40,000 visitors each year. The theatre is an intimate space, with seating on 3 sides of the stage. With only 168 seats, audience members are never more than 5 rows from the action.
Our family took sometime out from our holiday celebration to attend the Purple Rose's production of God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza. The cast included Rusty Mewha, Kate Thomsen, Paul Strolli and Michelle Mountain.
This was our second trip to the Purple Rose. Last year with Michelle Mountain in Morning After Grace by Carey Crim.
It was an eclectic story about the parents of two children with got in a fight.
A simple format containing powerful lines and provoking images that tug at the mind and the heart. It was fast paced, energetic and mentally challenging. It asks the question: "What is your ethos?........Are you sure?"
Stop by and see it :)

My wife and I took several of our friends to the Cascade Falls. It was a pleasant and relaxing evening watch the falls change colors. My only comment was I did not care for the music. They have a snack bar with good prices and a small gift shop. Well worth visiting.

Your chance to drive a real race car on the same track the NASCAR pros do! We provide the instruction, the cars and safety gear, you just have to bring your Need for Speed!
This was the most incredible experience I have ever had. Everything was so thorough and the people involved were very professional and extremely friendly. The instructor "Art" during the drivers meeting had a way of making you feel confident and comfortable about everything that was about to take place. I will DEFINITELY do this again. When my friends asked me what it was like, all I could say was " it's the most fun you will ever have with your clothes on!" You only live once, so live it well! You will not regret this.

Played 18 holes there on 9-6-15 and it was in excellent shape. Many holes are links style with wide fairways. Some are tucked into the woods on the back. Several tee boxes to accomodate wide range of handicaps. Greens were probably the best I've played in almost 10 years so kudos to the greenskeeper there. The proshop is rather dull and other than a few drinks and some overpriced gear, don't expect much. Driving range is nice and the putting greens are spotless. Nice little bar area and great outdoor seating under the pavillion. I've golfed the entire U.S and for the price you are simply NOT going to beat this golf course in it's current condition and layout. There wasn't any water on the course as per the pro in the shop who says they never have (it was 90 degrees and humid that day) and the beer cart was not out that day either (driver called in sick). Little mismanagement there but you get what you pay for and given the great golf I can overlook that.

Lively film at beginning of tour. Saw some of the facility. Got goodie bag at end. Bought nice padded bag and 24 box mixes at end.

We drove about 150 miles (each way) to see Michigan's reputedly largest animated holiday light show. It was nice, but the radio channel only played a few songs and little information about the production. Would I go again? Probably not. I enjoy the night lights at Bronner's in Frankenmuth more. On the plus side, it is a neat experience to realize that part of the exhibit is on the track itself. Am I glad I went. Yes. Another big bonus is that it is easy to pull over to the side to take photos without holding up cars behind you. But can't think how it might be different another time. At $20 per car load - and we were only two people - not such a good deal. Winding Creek in Mishawaka only aske $5 per carload, and the displays are definitely better overall.

Falling waters trail is a beautiful location for a walk, run, bike ride, picnic, or fishing spot! Surround yourself with nature away from the city, and enjoy the peaceful setting. Places to park along the way, a few spots with porta-potties near parking.

These museums offer a vivid look into 19th century pioneer life. Costumed tour guides take visitors through a 10-room farmhouse built by a German immigrant and seven additional outbuildings. Then groups are encouraged to continue their visit at the Dewey School Museum where pupils will experience a typical school day in the mid-1800s. Special Events: Blacksmith-Soldiers and Log Cabin Weekend, 4th full weekend in June. Antique Tractor-Truck and Farm Equipment Show, 2nd full weekend in August Pioneer Day-2nd Sunday in October Christmas on The Farm- 1st full Weekend in December
We went for their Christmas event last year and it was simply wonderful! Along with the fascinating museum there was live music, craftsman working in traditional mediums, a silent auction and very reasonably priced antiques, souvineers and holiday greenery arrangements.

The Waterloo recreation area is a great place to hike, fish or go boating with many miles of walking trails and lots of lakes with public access. The Gerald Eddy Discovery Center is a good place to start your excursion with many loop trails in the vicinity. Suggest the short Bog Trail or the longer out-and-back Hickory Hills trail. For a shorter trek, try the Hickory Hills loop from the park headquarters.

Sandhill Crane Vineyards is a small family-owned winery and cafe located in eastern Jackson county. Our award-winning wines are made with only local grapes and other fruits. The new cafe features soups, salads, sandwiches, and desserts made with locally sourced ingredients. For groups of 8 or more we ask that you give us a courtesy call at least 24 hours in advance and plan on arriving before 4:30 pm on the day of your visit. That will allow us to make sure that we have adequate tasting room staff on hand and reserve one or more tables for your group. Thanks!
A group of us (all women) visited the vineyard for wine tasting and lunch. The staff is amazing! The lady who provided the wine for tasting delivered our choices to the outside deck for us. The setting was lovely and the lunch was very fresh...MoreWe're so happy you enjoyed your visit with us! Thanks so much for the lovely review. We hope to see you again sometime soon. Cheers!
