We stopped on the way home from the beach - our 5 year-old was very happy!! He enjoyed the displayed and the gift shop. He was put-off by the monster truck ride, but loved the displays! We tried to have breakfast there, it was about 9AM. the small on-site Diner was overwhelmed! We ordered and waited about 30-45 minutes for eggs. At about 45 minutes, we inquired about the remaining wait..we were told our food was next to be cooked. We decide to get on the road home. We went to pay for our milk and coffee and was apologized to for the long wait and told our drinks were on-the-house! A VERY nice gesture!! We stayed on-site a little over an hour. Interesting stuff for all ages!

Great tour & tasting. Elton, the manager is a real hoot. Bad jokes and all.
Seriously, Elton was very knowledgeable about the grapes, the wine, and the process. Having done hundreds of these, I promise that Elton will give you the best tasting pours you have ever had.
Wine is wine. I liked some, and hated some. Bottom line, I bought some, so it had to be good.
If you get a chance to "Walk the Plank" at Sanctuary, do it. It is well worth it.

Nice views from boardwalk but prices of merchandise at shops are definitely on the expensive side, no bargains on the boardwalk. Shops are pretty spread out, too. Be prepared to walk.

Our family was vacationing at OBX. I was excited to take the drive to this restaurant and have lunch. We always went to the Manteo location when it was there. We all ordered different things and I'm just not sure if their hearts are in serving authentic food anymore. Everything from the sample. sausage appetizer to the reubens were just not very good. The sauerkraut was mushy, dark and way over cooked. The quality was missing. We all walked away feeling that we wished we had not wasted money on this meal. The only item that I thought was good was the potato soup. It was creamy and very good.

The Outer Banks Just Got WETTER! COOLER! WILDER! SPLASHIER! CRAZIER! H2OBX IS NOW OPEN! Whether you're looking for wild family fun or an upscale resort getaway, H2OBX is the place to be in the Outer Banks. Come see all that the best waterpark in North Carolina has to offer.
A great experience with the kids while taking a break from the beach. The park is just big enough to satisfy everybody. I recommend renting a cabana and getting there early. We went on slides early and then rested in the cabana with included bottle water. Going back next year for sure.

Location of the only lighthouse in the state of North Carolina that is still located where it was erected.
What a delight to see wild horses in their habitat. Not every day one sees a stallion with his harem frolic in the ocean or watch several of them in their own private sanctuary-"Wild Horse Estates". Although it is a bit pricey, give this activity top billing. They even offer a coupon in the visitor's guidebook.

This shop has a unique range of collections from t-shirts to jewelry to home decor to gifts & souvenirs to kitchen gadgets and tools to small toys for kids. The amazing collection at the top also features Christmas decorations which are available year round. However, almost every category was a little pricey. I wish it was more reasonable so that I could purchase more. Worth a visit atleast to buy a souvenir or two and get a glimpse of the vast collection.

We played paintball with a large group of friends on the weekend. The service was great and they had us already to go in no time. They are super friendly and we had a great time!

No pavement, so only 4WD vehicles allowed. Home of the wild horses, so be careful and read the information about the horses before you go. Rentals available, but take what you need so you don't have to drive miles to the closest store. There is a small "ferry" to Knotts Island if you so desire. To me, it be the perfect place to get completely away and just sit on the beach and watch the ocean (and the horses)

Produce didn't look good and was at a minimum a dollar more a pound than the Food Lion. My fancy organic farmers market in Center City, Philadelphia is priced better, and that market isn't cheap. Looked around and left without purchasing anything after some peaches were rung up at over $30 for the bag.
