This is a dangerous Lookout on the south bank of Lake Superior. After parking your car, you need to walk ~ half a mile to top of the Overlook or Lookout place - full of soft sand. On the top you can still see the log slide track full of sand with about ~ 500 or much more meters long / high. Many people especially young kids like to go down the sand track all the way to the beach of the lake. However, it's very hard for people especially to get up to the top back - the only way to your parked car. On both sides of the Slide track, you can find footprint tracks or standing places to take photos of the Slide or your family/friends mumbling on the Log Slide sands. The scenic is splendid but needs to be very cautious - not to fall down from the top or middle of the Slide or its sides.

We were on a circle tour of waterfalls in the UP. We did not complete the circle, but we started from about an hour south of Traverse City, drove across the bridge and started with Tahquaminon Upper and Lower falls with the second stop here at Sable Falls.
It was a chilly day in May 2017 when we went so it was very quiet with hardly anyone there. I definitely recommend going on an off time like we did if possible.
We would definitely go back!

The walk to the lighthouse was scenic. We should have checked the hours of operation though, because the lighthouse was closed when we went so you couldn't climb it. I'm guessing that would have made the walk more worth it. Pretty views from the lighthouse grounds though.

You won't find a more knowledgeable person on the subject of agates, rocks, and Grand Marais history than Karen. Definitely stop in, browse, see the museum, and ask questions. You will not be disappointed! Karen is also an artists who takes beautiful agate slices and turns them into just about anything; she will do special orders if there is something specific you would like made!

We stopped by Lake Superior Brewing. We expected a brewery experience. That did not happen.
They had all of three beers of their own on tap. An IPA (weakly hopped), a Blueberry Wheat (which tasted like a commercial muffin) and, uh, well, I don't remember the other one. The bartender noticed our reaction when she saw our reaction to the limited array of beers and attempted to reassure us by saying, "but we have all the domestics in cans."
Really??? You're promoting Bud Light, Coors, Miller over you own beers??? Ouch.

There are many trails to choose from to see the Chapel falls. They all are great. Pretty walk and great falls. Bring mosquito repellant !

It begins at the level of Beaver Lake and stretches to the East for I assume 12 miles…? We always access it from the same point, about 1,5 mi hike from Little Beaver Lake campground. I get the same rush of excitement when getting close to the water; you can see the clearing, start to hear the waves, take a few faster steps and arrive to a sandy drop off. The view always brings a big smile and a big fat “wow!” Sometimes the water is grey and waves heavy, other times you just can’t get over the beautiful azure waters. Either way the view stops you just for a moment before running down. It is not an ocean but for a moment you feel like it is. The beach has light colored fine sand, and such is the bottom of the lake. The water temperature is another story. Don’t let the looks deceive you. We experienced water so cold that just running in and out left us breathless, and warm enough that we could swim for quite a while. If it is too cold for swimming, walking the beach, picking through rocks, or just chilling out on the warm sand is enough. The beach is never crowded in that corner, and almost litter free.

The Pickle Barrel as right on the main street through Gran Marais. It was not open when we visited, so a lost opportunity for us. There is a large historical sign at the site that explains the history of the building. It is rather small, but a 2-story barrel and an attached single story behind the barrel structure.

This is a nice beachfront park in downtown Grand Marais with a nice children's playground and beach area. Getting down to the playground area may be difficult for older visitors because of the stairs. The bathrooms near the playground were dirty and smelled like sewage, but the playground itself was very nice and well kept.

Woodland Park is both a campground and a park for the town, with a playground and ballfields adjacent to the campground. The land was donated years ago, so it is a town run park. The campground is well kept and on a bluff overlooking Lake Superior. The sites were grassy and clean...not extremely large, but certainly large enough. There are enough trees for shade, and plenty of room to walk your dog along the bluff. There are steps down to the beach (I think quite a few). Overall I would recommend this campground to anyone
