Colorado's premiere summer musical company - Denver Post. RMRT produces live, professional theatre in beautiful Grand Lake, CO at the Western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. Entering its 42nd year, RMRT produces three Broadway musicals in true repertory nightly in the summer months and one musical weekends in September.
We went to see Ma Mia tonight and Westside Story on Saturday night. Both productions were amazing! The level of talent of everyone involved with this theater is excellent: actors, musicians, all the technical people, etc. We love going to plays here, it's a small theater so it feels very intimate.

We rowed in the Spirit of the Lake Regatta as a rowing team then a few of us hung out at the lake for a couple hours after our Regatta. It was a nice beach area. Good park across from the beach for storage of our boats. Rowing around the lake we had to focus on rowing but sneaking peeks at the water front homes, the Grand Lake Yacht Club and the docks was so beautiful. Definitely a more rustic and low key place then summit county. I think it is such a gem.

Grand Lake Nordic Center offers 35km of groomed scenic ski trails. One of our favorite trails "River Run" is parallel and crosses the Colorado River. We also offer snow shoe trails and a tubing hill. After skiing you may relax in front of a roaring fire and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate along with a scenic panorama view of Rocky Mountain National Park.
The Nordic center at grand lake is one of the oat beautiful places to cross country ski or snow shoe.
The trails are well groomed, the staff is friendly, and the views of the nearby mountains is outstanding.
A huge plus is that I can take my Weimaraners here off leash while I ski!
The tickets are very reasonable

The Kauffman House was packed with a variety of items from the original family and it was interesting to see how they lived. Such a great assortment of items - a bear hide, vintage photos, guns, furniture, paintings, kitchen appliances, clothing. The tour guide was outstanding, and so interesting. She knew all about the town and the lake too. She took us on a tour, and we were allowed to wander at our leisure too. We enjoyed a short video narrated by the daughter of the original family.

Come for the day, or make this your next Colorado mountain vacation destination!
Enjoyed our visit there. The staff was polite. One staff member warned me to not carry my umbrella opened during the rain because of lightning. The bathrooms were clean. I got a kick out of the "Pull Gently" signs. The gift shop was competitively priced. We found a great selection of gifts. We didn't eat there. The view is great there. I appreciated the webcam the weeks before our visit to help me decide what to wear. Do not attempt the hikes outside unless you are accustomed to the elevation.

This is an eight mile, one way hiking trail through unsurpassed natural beauty.
This trail isn't handicap-accessible, but it is easy at the start, going across the very pretty Kawuneeche Valley. Then it goes into the trees and starts uphill. We hiked a couple miles and then turned back. Would be a good trail to take your kids on. As always, you don't want to let them run wild, ahead of you, out of sight, off the trail, because this IS a wilderness, there ARE bears and mountain lions, though we've never seen one -- :( -- and little kids DO look like tasty snacks!

Most of the shops in Grand Lake are typical tourist stuff - but not this. Nice pottery and high end photos of Rocky Mountain Park and other outdoor scenery as well as paintings. Worth going in to see this place at the east end of...MoreThank you! Please come and visit again.

This is a little pull-out area on Highway 34 at the Dam Road. It has a couple of picnic tables and a latrine. It offers nice views of the lake as well as the dam, and is a good place to sit and serenely watch the birds (especially the heron). It doesn't cost anything. Trash cans are available so you can clean up after yourself without bringing a mess back into your car. After your visit, you can either head across the dam road to several campgrounds, hiking and lovely vistas or you can continue down highway 34 into the Village of Grand Lake or the western entrance of the Rocky Mountain National Park.
