This pleasant, quiet park is a beautiful way to go for a relatively easy hike and admire both the scenery and any animals you might see. There are plenty of trails of varying difficulties, as well as 2-3 lakes. This park is also a wildlife refuge and all of the animals are protected, so you can't hunt or fish here, but don't let that stop you from taking in the stunning serenity of the place. This is also a great place for bird-watching. I think this place is a bit less well-known than some of the state parks, so it's a good opportunity to be outside during physical distancing, and it's less crowded in general (especially since it's such a big place).

Old Mill Pond Village Shops is a picturesque place for shopping and browsing. They have several different shops - outdoor décor, a large gift shop, and a Christmas store. If you like to look around you will need a half hour to an hour to just get through the gift shop. They have an excellent selection of vintage (brand) candy, candles, 1980s lip glosses (that I thought were no longer made), a large section for kitchen gadgets and cooking salts/rubs, decorations, and furniture upstairs. They are open right now with social distancing guidelines applying. It's a lovely place to stop by and spend an hour or so.

We had a birthday party at Lost Acres last evening and it could not have been more delightful! The setting is gorgeous and there is an excellent selection of wines for every taste. Rachel made the planning process super easy, and Rachel’s knowledgeable service at the bar made sampling different wines a lot of fun. We had excellent outside caterers (see our review of Harvest Cafe) and Naomi graciously helped serve and clean up the food. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating of our somewhat unruly extended family. I highly recommend this place for your next event!

The Enders State Forest, a gift to the State of Connecticut by members of the Ostrom Enders family, is a tract of approximately 2,500 acres (including the recently added Worthen Farm in West Granby). It abuts the 4,300-acre McLean Game Refuge and hundreds of acres owned by the Granby Land Trust. The highlight of the parcel, a cascading series of pools and water falls, are the Enders Falls that are easily accessed from Barkhamsted Road (Route 219) near the intersection with Route 20 in West Granby. The falls are surprisingly dramatic. It's such a fun place to enjoy whatever time you have to be in a natural place of great beauty. It's surely worth the trip.
