Hiked here while staying in Queenstown. The drive up toward Glenorchy where the trailhead is located was one of my favorites on this trip, the lake is so blue. I hiked the track toward the Bonnie Jean Hut. There were a few other cars in the parking lot but I didn’t see any other hikers during the majority of the hike. It was awesome to feel the peace and solitude surrounded by the mountains on this hike as it was so much less busy than many of the other hikes I took on this trip. The track is well marked and wide throughout and steadily uphill but never steep or technical, at least on the track I took. Of course the views back toward the lake and Glenorchy were beautiful.

Beautiful walk with reflections in the lagoon if you chance it on a fine and calm day. Takes about 40 mins to do the loop from the town centre depending on your walking speed and how long you want to sit on one of the benches to soak up the views.

Absolutely gorgeous stop - there is the shed just by the waterfront where many have taken a picture - then the vista of the three mountains together (which were in the hobbit movie) just a stunning place in NZ - turn left from the drive from Queenstown once you enter the town.

Brilliant lookout with spectacular nature & colours, especially enjoyable by people who have watched the lord of the rings and can relate to the place. The white gravel on the river bed is absolutely amazing and adds to the beauty of the scenery. A camera with a good zoom is a must. Allow about half an hour for the drive and visit from Glenorchy.

What a great display giving information about the young men from this area who went off to war, and what happened to them. It was very sad reading the stories. Excellent display.
