Situated one block off the New England Highway on the high street of Glen Innes, The Makers Shed is a marketplace for the handmade and independent work of artisans, artists and authors, including silversmith Richard Moon and author-artist Michael Burge. A unique range of original jewellery, art and handmade goods and quality independent books can be purchased throughout the year. Experience a silversmithing demonstration or take a creative workshop in jewellery making, art or writing and social media; and watch out for our regular literary events! Open Wednesdays to Saturdays 10am-4pm.
There are a good range of very high quality handmade items here, and the jeweller Richard, who was working when I went in, was a wealth of information, friendly and approachable. I spent an enjoyable half hour having a chat, and Richard was willing to give me information to help me enjoy my time in Glen Innes. Will definitely come back!

It’s a great destination for any time of the day or year. The strawberries are grown on site and you can see the rows of strawberry plants as you Park your car! If you visit out of season not a problem as they freeze the fruit. I had the strawberry thick shake and it’s the best I have ever had. The menu is huge.

The museum houses a unique collection of local artefacts and memorabilia dating back to the early settlers of Glen Innes and District and encompassing its Celtic heritage. All located in the original Glen Innes Hospital. A variety of machinery is on view in the grounds. The Research Centre has an extensive collection of resources available for family and local history research. Open 7 days.
After hosting a Family Reunion in Glen Innes we arranged a group visit to the museum the next morning. Eve and the other wonderful volunteers kindly arranged tea, coffee and biscuits for us. They were a wealth of information about both our family and the area. The displays were well set out and labelled and cover a very wide variety of items from various areas of everyday life. I would highly recommend this museum, it is well worth a visit.

We are more than happy to help you with all of your inquiries to ensure your time here is memorable. The Glen Innes Highlands is packed full of adventure and experiences with distinctive seasons, gourmet foods along with its picaresque town and villages. Great for road touring, kayaking and canoeing, mountain biking, fishing for the mighty Murray Cod or meandering along its historic colonial main street or museums. This agricultural town has a proud Celtic Heritage and is home to the Australian Standing Stones - the National monument erected to honour all the Celtic pioneers of Australia – hosting the Australian Celtic Festival in May each year. The World Heritage Washpool and Gibraltar Range National Parks, Stonehenge and the Minerama Fossicking Gem & Jewellery Show are just a few of the other great attractions on offer. Said to be one of the world’s richest mineral diversity belts, sapphires are one of the many treasures to be found in the plentiful fossicking areas.
Great information and assistance (although they don't hover over you), a lot of great souvenirs and local (and international) goods for sale
