Spot a tourist in New York, and chances are you can’t be sure exactly why they’re in town. Broadway? Shopping? A quest to find the world’s best bagel? It’s anyone’s guess. At Giza, though, it’s pretty simple—travelers come here to see the Pyramids of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. (Editor's note: Our list was compiled before political unrest prompted many countries to issue travel warnings for Egypt. Our tour guide brought us to the Golden Bird Bazaar where we were each able to buy a personalized, one of a kind, hand-made Khartouche. The staff, especially the owner, Chico, were courteous, friendly and helpful in making selections that we will cherish for years to come. There were so many beautiful items to choose from it was hard to decide, but we were able to leave with many wonderful gifts for family and friends back home. Highly recommend this gift shop that has a relaxed and no pressure atmosphere.

My tour guide brought me to this bazaar after our tour in the Pyramids of Giza. It was only a few minutes away from there. All the staff are very friendly and assisted so well. They also offer drinks while you choose from their shop or while waiting for your cartouche. There’s also a huge selection of items for you to choose from as the shop is quite big. I bought a cartouche necklace and a few ref magnets souvenirs and paid by card. It was worth the visit.

This was really, really interesting. They show you how papyrus is made and processed and have many wonderful works for sale. Problem is, they try to upsell you (of course). But the artwork is first rate and well worth seeing.

Visited here during a tour of the great pyramids and feel in love with so many pieces. Prices can be fairly high on certain things, huge mural size art works, but you can bargain an incredible deal with them. Very very fair people to deal with. Authentic papyrus, beautiful hand drawn artwork and they will add your family name to them if you wish. Worth a visit!!

Our outstanding guide from Kensington Tours, Enam, recommended this bazar and we found an impressive large in-laid mother-of pearl cat with other in-laid pieces of semi-precious stone & gold and paid a reasonable price, after negotiating a discount. Store personnel and owner were very friendly and helpful. We actually watched them apply the hieroglyphs to a cartouche & chain we purchased in their workshop downstairs. If you are in this area of Giza it is well worth the stop.

My sister and I were brought here during our tour day at The Great Pyramids in Giza and loved our experience. We both bought one perfume (Lotus Flower and Cleopatra). When we returned to our hotel we read some bad reviews about the shop and couldn’t believe what people were saying! We opened ours up (from the packaging) and made sure both smelled the same as when we sampled them in the store. They did! And after we applied the perfume the next day, the intoxicating smell lasted all day long. My sister went to work and received many compliments. We’ve now traveled home and it’s been a week. The perfume still smells amazing!!!! My theory is—people who typically review are the complainers of the world. Happy satisfied customers don’t submit reviews nearly enough, and it’s a shame! This is a lovely store with great perfumes and very nice salesmen. Go!
