Har's Garden

Reviewed By 238samj - Indonesia, null

My experience at Hars Garden was amazing! On arrival i was greeted by him at the entrance to his Jungle after walking through his organic garden, with his dreadlocks hanging near to the floor and a big healthy organic smile. Instantly i knew that this was the ideal place for me. Slowly walking up the steps into my treehouse accommodation trying to take in all the jungle and nature around me. The treehouse was unreal! So simple so unique! It drops off probably 20m from the balcony into the deep jungle with a river and waterfall at the bottom! Waking up at 6am with a very slight few strips of sunlight shining through the jungle canopy, it was torrential rain and i had never felt ever before the pure deep form of mother nature like that! Laying in bed with the large glass windows in front dropping off into the deep wet jungle! The sounds of running water and birds, frogs, monkeys literally i did not want to leave this moment. 3hours later i finally prized myself out of my trance to start the course. Breakfast was a huge tray of fruit all from the garden then a main course of salad and ubi (potato) all obviously grown by hars and picked early morning by Hars while i was daydreaming into the jungle haha. What i learnt from this dude was not just how to grow great organic food but how to live in this world with the ecosystem and not against it, also how to create a ecosystem on my land in Sumbawa that was partly destroyed by corn farming. His information was golden and his mission in life (to save the ecosystem and work with nature) also to educate the word on how to grow organic food and to work with nature not against it. Using his own techniques and also others from hundreds of years ago. Basically he is a all time hero and the course was very beneficial to me and my family to create a new life over in Sumbawa living from the land and working with Nature. The course was supposed to be 2 days but i booked a extra day in because there was so much i wanted to learn! Overall i done 3 days 4 nights there, the three hour course a day was not really enough for me to take everything in, ideally i would like to take a week course 8hours a day haha but obviously Hars has a life too and to steal his time that much just wouldn't be fair. When i left he kindly gave me over 30 different types of herbs and strains that i could bring with me to sumbawa. Now all i need to do is keep them alive and spread hars knowledge to others who are grownig using monoculture techniques destroying the ecosystem. Thanks Hars and good luck with your future project in Sumba! Peace joy and healthy food Sir

Bali Bird Park

Enjoy walking around and get along with a thousand birds and its habitat. The Park is divided into seven regions that recreate the natural habitats of our birds, complete with indigenous plant life. You can travel from the deep misty jungle of Sumatra to Far East Indonesia and Papua to discover the native birds from these remote regions. Venture to other tropical continents too. See the South American exotics such as the Golden Macaw and the Congo Grey Parrot from the African Savannah. Enter into their real living environment and see how they play with their colony, how they breed, and feel their happiness. You'll love them. Be entertained with our various bird shows and feeding activities and also many special programs made only for you. Take photos from lots of incredible scenes and taste the richness of local Balinese culinary and international cuisine from our fantastic menus in the restaurant.

This was our fourth family visit. The park continues to make incremental improvements and is great for all generations of the family. It has always offered a great day out with well managed and accessible natural exhibits set in a pleasing park like environment - many of the birds are kept in the open or in bigger aviaries ( though some are kept in smaller cupboard cages, which seem to be being phased out). The birds come from a wide background including SE Asia, South America, and South Africa. There are specific areas for, and more focus on, Sumatra, Borneo, Papua, Java and of course Bali. There is a Komodo Dragon exhibit as well. The bird shows and feeding sessions are not gimmicky or exploitative and the staff seem genuinely interested in, and caring for, the birds there. There is a very good cafe onsite which is offers snacks and lunch ( Balinese and international food). Best suggested time to visit is mid morning to avoid the worst of the traffic, catch the shows and then have a later lunch and drinks when it gets hotter.

Wonderful collection of Indonesian houses from different island. Over 60 different original building to have a look for all the culture of this country. 50% of houses are heavy damaged and it is no t possible to go inside anymore. But even this situation that place is MUST visit! Due to pandemy most activities are closed. Ticket price goes down from 350k IDR to 200k IDR and 85k for locals. Price looks little bit high, but if you can go - it worth it. Inside only 3 people near the houses. From Papua, Sumbawa and Sulawesi. They will explain you about their work and traditional arts if you ask them. Aslo nice mini-copy of borobudur temple. If you will go on weekdays you have huge chanse that you will be alon in this place - no other visitors. With the ticket you will get free-drink coupon that you can use in the end of the street with houses. From the cafe you have amazing view to the forest and river. For all way you will need not less than 2 hours if not hurry. We not reccomend to use wooden bridges - they looks not to strong enough to use them safe(but we had and was ok, just be careful). Anyway this is hidden diamond on the side of the road. Hope it will be renovated in the future.

Night at the Zoo offers a fantastic experience exploring the zoo after dark! It is the next best thing to do while on the island besides gazing at a dramatic sunset on the beach. Sanctoo Suites and Villas gave me an adventure which I cherish till date. It was Night at the Zoo where the real adventure begins after dark. We got to see rare nocturnal habitats of deers, kangaroos, lion, tiger and we get to feed them too. It was so thrilling to see the Asian Bear Cat moving on a rope and pythons and elephants too. Loving and feeding them counts for another experience altogether. Taking a python on myself for the first time was a strange, slimy but a lovely experience as it was harmless and assisted. We were also taken on a bus ride within the zoo surrounded with elephants through which we fed them corn and we could touch their trunks and love them too. We crossed all through the spacious walking paths, garden plazas, showcase areas, water features, a lake on which elephants were roaming and Tiger Trail. We had a yummy dinner which was scheduled at Wana Restaurant located in the middle of Bali Zoo just a few meters from the lion family enclosure. For those of you who want to do some shopping and take back more memories, there is the souvenir shop to buy some cool toys, tees and some more cute goodies just next to the Wana restaurant. Cute animal soft toys were my favourite. The night didn’t end here. Another exciting adventure was the Fire show and Dance performance by the African traditional artists. It was enthralling, thrilling and an adventurous fire dance which was the wildest experience as they were dancing with fire in their hands. I also had the chance to dance with them on stage and get clicked. It was such a wonderful feeling and a thrilling adventure. This experience is definitely a must in Bali! So, all in all, it was a lovely experience be it the animal feeding or the food we had or the dance! I enjoyed every bit of it and wish to go back again to have all the more fun with ofcourse more people this time. Time to head back to the villa for a good night sleep. The dimly lit villa looked even more beautiful with twinkling stars over our private pool.

Waterfall tours are different from other waterfall forms, because the shape is sloping, not shaped like a waterfall usually. So that is why this waterfall is very aesthetic in the form of tourist attractions. In addition, there is a river found for tourists to try their adventure with the cliffs surrounding it.

I liked also playing the stone and made some stone pagoda. Ad the end of the adventure I visited a mini zoo where i found some big snakes and beautiful birds to play with. Highly recommended.
