I took this tour with my husband and two children, aged 6 and 8 on a Saturday. Went to catch the bus that was supposed to have a 16 minute frequency but there had been a problem and the bus took half an hour to arrive. The firs seat we took had terrible audio, glitches, weird sound, bad signal, couldn't hear anything, but changed seats after a couple of stops and it was ok. First part of the trip was ok, nice views up to Alex, there the bus stopped for at least 20 minutes under the blazing sun, after a long time someone came up and explained something in german, waited a bit longer. Finally the tour resumed but it turned out a big part of it had been chopped off because there was some sort of demonstration at Brandenburg Tor, we had to take an alternate route that collapsed with a traffic jam. So it was super slow, nothing much to see, no audio guide of course, kids bored and complaining. It was a pain and after a good 30 minutes of that and having made no more than ten blocks we just got off the bus. I'm not saying it's their fault but I'm sure with some planning they could have come up with some sort of back up solution or compensation. We spent a lot of money for a botched experience.

The guided tour is really worthwhile if you are interested in airports, the Second World War and the Cold War. The guide spoke great English and knew his stuff. Unfortunately, a number of rooms cannot be visited during Covid times, but the tour is still interesting and informative. The website does state that "changes in tour routes may occur as a result of certain events taking place on the site," but I do wish they were clearer about what can't be visited. Apart from the Covid restrictions, the main hall (which was a huge draw for me) was also unavailable due to the Living the City exhibition taking place there - do make sure you book a free ticket for that before or after your guided tour to get in!
