Wandering the narrow caruggi alleyways of Genoa is a bit like solving a medieval labyrinth. In the heart of the Italian port city lies Piazza de Ferrari, a main square with a beautiful fountain and a perimeter lined with historic buildings, including the Palace of the Doges the Teatro Carlo Felice, which was destroyed during WWII and subsequently rebuilt. The seaside neighborhood of Boccadasse is vision of pink and yellow buildings that brighten up this lovely fishing village.

Trek through Genoa to discover the best places, hidden spots, best bars, small osterias, secret old shops, secluded squares: taste the real Focaccia and pesto (it was invented here) and the superb trofie at our preferred Restaurant. Be impressed by the phenomenal beauty of the ancient palaces, see the First " Jeans " textile, indeed were invented here... you will see. Drink tasty wine in real 'old style' bars in the old part of the city and wonder in front of the magic of an ancient Templar Hospital. And Welcome :-).

At the first village you will stop, it seems to go back in time! Riomaggiore, where your driver drops you off, is a gem, with its alleys, its castle and the typical colored houses overlooking the small harbor of the seaside village. After some leisure time to spend in this picturesque village, take the boat or train (your own epenses) to reach Manarola, another wonderful village. Here your driver will pick you up to drive you to Vernazza, probably the most charming of the Cinque Terre. Here you will have lunch in one of the typical restaurants. After lunch, you will take the route to Monterosso (by boat or train at your expenses) and enjoy a pleasant walk along the waterfront. at the end of your visit in this wonderful village, you will go back to Genoa with your dirver Please note that it's not possible to move by car between the villages, ths is why the route shoud be made by trains or boats.

What if I told you that there is a hidden gem in the North, a place that few people regard, totally off the beaten path yet only 2 hours away from Milan… what if I told you that this place, nevertheless, once used to be the dominating force in the Mediterranean? What if I told you Christopher Columbus and Marco Polo… what if I told you Italy’s main harbour, where almost all emigrants left from towards the United States of America, and so maybe even your own Italian ancestors? A city you have never seen before as such, great in its medieval glory, devotional to the sea yet embraced by tall mountains, the most densely built medieval city centre of Europe, buildings as old as 900 years yet still normally inhabited - daily life and hidden activities? Oh you would only dream to visit such a town, if only you knew it existed. This I heard so often before: If only I knew … Well, now you know. Don’t miss Genoa. I will take you there.
Inclusions: Private transportation

We booked a custom tour with Sandra for our stop at the Genoa cruise port. We communicated with Sandra in advance and she was very helpful in setting up special arrangements for us. We particularly wanted to experience Portofino. She met us at the cruise port and escorted us through a wonderful journey of the coastline. We loved our stop at an espresso bar for our morning coffee. She is very knowledgeable as well as a lot of fun. We feel we have made a friend for life! Very professional.

Como, the largest city in this region. Along the way we are regularly treated to beautiful views of small villages on the other side of the lake. The radiant sun makes it even more idyllic, but otherwise there is little to do in this region (at this time of year).

Wish we had read the reviews before booking. Palermo is quite small and most the main sights are very central, so you don’t really need a bus tour. However, even if you are not keen on walking, the bus tour will be of little use, as the advertised ‘hop on, hop off, every 20 minutes’ is simply untrue. The bus only arrives every 90 minutes (we lunched in a restaurant next to the stop we alighted from and that was the time gap). In addition, there is no access to a live map for bus arrivals, so you have no idea when the next bus will arrive. In a nutshell, it’s a rip off.
