My wife and our 22 year old son and I did a great 4+ mile hike on a hot Sunday morning. We arrived about 11am and there was ample parking ($5) . We hiked from lot A on the white trail- connected to the red trail and went past the lake ; and then kept following the red trail to the green trail and back to white - which dropped us back near lot A. It was hilly and rocky but the trails are well marked and well maintained. There is a beautiful garden on the grounds and the restrooms were open. Masks a must on the public grounds. It’s worth a visit.

We stopped by for a quick visit before checking in to our hotel. All I can say is WOW! If you want a great view of the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty without the crowds and craziness, you need to stop here. This would be a perfect picnic spot during warmer months!

usually heavily trafficked, Giants Stairs trail is the most challenging in Palisades. The trail steeply descends to the shore of Hudson River, and then lasts more than a mile over the Giant Stairs - a long section of huge boulders having tumbled from Palisades - before finally comes back up. We started hike right before a T-storm, so some web surface made Giant Stairs even more challenging and we had to scramble, sometimes with both hands. But the rewarding view made all the efforts worthwhile. The trail is a relatively short 4.5 miles. A good pair of hiking shoes/boots will help. Highly recommended.

We have been enjoying this beautiful and diverse park for years with our dog. We have hiked on multiple trails, have canoed and paddle boarded on the lake, have flown kites, and just sat to have a picnic or watch the sun set. We have always felt incredibly lucky to have such an amazing park close to us. That said, I would like to comment on a bad review that was left by a disgruntled visitor. She remarked on the beach area being covered with dog poop. Firstly, dogs are not allowed on the beach, and people are generally very diligent about cleaning up after their dogs. The poop she saw came from geese. There are great numbers of Canada geese that gather, especially during cooler months, and their poop is fairly large, as are the birds. During the summer the beach is clean and well kept. That's nature. The other complaint this person had was about the "disgusting" bathrooms. It is important to keep in mind that these are environmentally friendly toilets, where the waste is naturally broken down, and without the use of water. The smell is generally minimal, and the toilets are usually clean, so perhaps this visitor came on a bad day. I cannot say enough great things about this amazing park, and there many miles of trails, or paddling, to enjoy. However, I am sad to say that people come to enjoy a beautiful place and then don't respect it. They come to a clean place abut then leave garbage behind. They bring boom boxes to a quiet, peaceful place and blare their music so loud that it can be heard a mile down the lake. What a shame. The park is very well cared for, and there are bicycle clubs that do a lot of trail maintenance. The park, and it's caretakers are not the problem, visitors are. Please appreciate the beauty that surrounds you and be respectful to keep it that way.

Just siting here today looking at their wonderful water fountain in the middle of the lake. Very surreal, calming and cathartic. Love this park for the benches, landscaping and people watching. You can jog, stroll or have a catch. Beautifully manicured with different foliage blooming each month. Very well maintained.
