We visited yesterday and had a great time. The park is beautiful and the trees are amazing. We would like to visit another time when the visitors center is open.

Fall and Winter, we are open by appointment only for tasting, tours and purchasing. Same day/short notice appointments are sometimes OK. We produce distinctive, site-driven small batch wines made mainly from grapes grown in small plots in Southern Humboldt. Our wines receive recognition in well known wine competitions including the CA State Fair and the Orange County Fair, along with top reviews from wine writers. We are best known for our Single Vineyard Humboldt Pinot Noirs and our Brut Sparkling wines, while our other reds and whites are distinctive and well received. Our Winery is located about 75 yards up Ferren Road, off of Briceland/Shelter Cove Road, 1/4 mile before Briceland 5.5 miles West from Redway on the way towards Shelter Cove.
My newly-wedded husband and I dropped in on a lark. We were on our way to Sinkyone SP and saw the sign "vineyard". Andrew, kind host and owner, welcomed our unannounced selves and gave us a tour. We tasted on the cozy patio with him and his lovely wife Rosie. The wine was excellent. His knowledge of the science, philosophy, and history of wine making made for interesting conversation. The Arneis was unusual and my favorite, I am not a white wine person (like, AT ALL) and I found it very refreshing. The chardonnay was not buttery, interesting to find out that the taste is a manufactured side-effect, The Pinot was our favorite, We took a bottle home as well as a bottle of sparkling wine for our anniversary. Thank you Briceland.

This special log home includes living, dining, & bedroom areas just like any other trailer or motorhome. This Northern California redwood attraction has been a longtime popular attraction to young and old alike. At One Log House Espresso & Gifts, we also have a nice gift shop with unique redwood gifts, bowls, clocks, chainsaw carvings, & souvenirs. We also feature espresso drinks (hot, cold, or blended), smoothies, milk shakes, fresh deli sandwiches, and ice cream.
We try to research and stop at Roadside America attractions. This one was not planned, and I'm so glad we stopped. The outside looks like a tree and the inside feels like an airstream. $1.00 gets you in the door.

There's a million of these stores up and down Highway 101; this is the only one that doesn't have a weird or "historic" tree attached to it (although there are some across the street from it). Whether that's a positive or a negative is your prerogative.

Great salmon candy - a type of dried salmon with a sweet caramelized taste. There is lots to look at here, especially if the owner is there, all the really beautiful jewelry will be in the display cases. They are very knowledgeable about jewelry but not pushy at all. Its the kind of place you can look at things and ask questions without being pressured. The owner gave a great deal (without us asking) on 2 pair of earrings.

Classic historic inn located at the beginning of the Avenue of the Giants and Redwood Forests. The accommodations-while historic-are surprisingly modern and comfortable. Pleasant and courteous staff, on site restaurant with excellent dinner service. Back patio is riverfront with reading chairs, croquet, and small dog friendly. Accompanying grounds (through an underpass) are a golf course and KOA type campground

This place has a lot of everything. You can find party decorations to birthday and holiday gifts, jewelry, cards, games, gag gifts too. We always try to go in at least once on every trip. It is never the same twice - new things appear each time we visit. Unless small kids are under control this is not a place to bring them. There are too many temptations for small hands.

We were exploring the Shelter Cove area and needed some reference books to understand the geology. We stumbled on the King Range bookstore (named after the big coastal mountains) and found exactly what we needed plus a whole lot more. Good science fiction. Good selection of both new and used. Really fun owner who knew a lot about the area and some of the local authors. Definitely worth a stopover.
