Giovanni and his team created a wonderful experience for my clients on retreat in Puglia. Learning to make pasta by hand and then being served the most delicious lunch was a highlight. More so the way Giovanni took care of us was so personal, we got an authentic Italian experience with a local Italian! He made us all feel very at home , this added value he especially for my American clients who were visiting Puglia for the first time. Better condition ruins, smaller, more accessible, great glimpse into the lives of the rich and famous ancient Roman's. Poppaea was Nero's wife. Ruins are about 90% wheelchair accessible.

Gallipoli was the starting point of the Salento’s big commerce of oil. Frome there, the oil was ferried all around Europe, than was used to light up cities and houses. So the city and their surroundings were rich, and traces of this prosperity are still there. We will cycle towards Sannicola, in the hinterlands: here we will visit an ancient underground oil mill of XVII century. Crossing the landscape, between vineyards and dry-stone walls, we will see the historical centre of Galatone. Than back to the see, to enjoy the wild nature of Porto Selvaggio: here we will walk in the pinewood before to have a swim and a nice picnic. We will go back to Gallipoli riding along the coast.

We were recommended this tour by a good friend of ours and we are so grateful. We have recently retired and had this tour planned for this Autumn but then Covid happened. Carlo at Salento Bici Tour was really helpful in providing updates on the situation in Italy and the options if we needed to cancel. At one point we decided not to go but the thought of a long Winter prompted us to go for it. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour that takes you around the coast of Salento and it’s surrounding countryside side starting and finishing in beautiful Lecce. The GPS route avoids the main roads and down country lanes and alley ways: passing a myriad of olive groves, charming towns and villages and spectacular cliffs and beaches. The architecture is amazing: so many examples Baroque architecture, imposing castles, defence towers and lighthouses. We stayed at a variety of B&B’s and villas and for most evenings the tour includes reservations at local restaurants and what memorable meals we enjoyed. There are also local food and drink tastings: these were a bit hit and miss but we thoroughly enjoyed the lunch of cheese, wine and homemade Limoncello at a cheese farm hosted by the very charming owner. Salento Bici have invested in new bikes and e-bikes and were of very good quality and fun to ride. We are very grateful for the team at Salento Bici for being so friendly and helpful: thank you so much. It is worth adding an extra day or two at the end of the tour to take in the sights of Lecce and Bari ( we flew into Bari. Nb you can also get flights into Brindisi).

We had a great time! We want to come back to Turkey in the winter because we are in love with the country now. :) We really enjoyed all the places we visited and would like to travel back to spend more time exploring - especially in Cappadocia and the big cities. All the people we met were wonderful and our guides were excellent. We especially LOVED our first two. They were the nicest and most fun people to spend time with- it was like being on vacation with friends. We didn't want to go home! We will definitely do another Eskapas tour in Greece or Turkey on our next trip so I will reach out to you again in a few months when we are ready to book. Thanks for all your help! Paulo and Sandro are very professional and very kind guys. The equipment they rent is almost new and in a very good shape. They showed me beautiful places and their service is an all around carring. I recommend them strongly! Paulo und Sandro sind sehr professionell und freundlich. Sie vermieten sehr gute Equipments. Sie zeigten mir wunderschöne Tauchorte und boten einen rundum Service. We have just completed our 8-day tour of Puglia with GoinItaly, guided by wonderful Gaetano Barrone. We were given the very best of service by a capable, knowledgeable and attentive tour leader. Gaetano goes out of his way to meet the needs of guests and takes genuine delight in sharing the country he knows so well. Highlights of the tour include great accommodation including a stay in a traditional Trollope in Alberobello. The tour included amazing food and wine experiences as well as visits to many wonderful churches, castles and beautiful Southern Italian towns. Highly recommend this company if you are planning to visit southern Italy.

What a trip! Adam, our driver, was fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble for him. The day went according to plan and we had marvellous visits to both the extensive complex of Villa Adriana and then taken up the hill to Villa d’Este and its magnificent water gardens. Thoroughly recommend this out of Rome trip although pre-trip communication from the local provider could be improved.
