Hand screen printed artwork by Jane Fleming, commissioned by Scottish Ministers to mark the 200th anniversary of Sir Walter Scott's 'Waverley' novels and the return of the Waverley Line. Individual posters for each station also hand screen printed by Jane can be viewed at each stop down the line.
The line from Edinburgh to Tweedbank is the newest railway in the UK and shows a great example of the Scottish Government to rebuild closed railways. The reopening was a big success and the line has a regular service to the Scottish capital. The stations are well tended and functional. I was interested to see at Gorebridge that the station is sponsored by people and organisations. A couple of other stations have plants which make them look more welcoming. All the stations were clean and tidy on my visit.

Following advice in relation to COVID-19, Old Gala House will not be opening as planned this season. An alternative opening date cannot be predicted at this time but our website and social media platforms will be regularly updated. We are grateful for your patience and understanding and very much look forward to welcoming you then. Set in beautifully landscaped grounds near the centre of Galashiels, Old Gala House is an impressive building dating back to 1583. Once home to the Lairds of Galashiels, the house is now a vibrant museum and gallery which tells the story of the town and its people. It also hosts a seasonal programme of changing exhibitions and events along with a cafe, gift shop and stunning gardens. Old Gala House is available to hire as a venue. Please note that whilst the Museum & Gallery at Old Gala house has now closed for the season until Easter 2020, this beautiful building remains open as a venue for hire using the contact details listed.
The grounds are beautiful. We had our wedding her in 2019, and couldn't have picked a more beautiful setting in the area. The gardens are so well kept, you can sit for hours just looking at the beautiful fountain or the mini waterfall. The house itself is well worth a look as well. Kind of a cross between museum and art gallery. You can find a lot of information about the people who live and have lived in the area. Plus its a free day out
