Fukuoka is a gourmet paradise... "providing you're not vegetarian," say travelers on our Fukuoka forum! It's right on Genkai Sea, and the seafood is fresh and abundant. So is Fukuoka-style ramen, which you can find at the city's famous yatai (outdoor stalls) as well as modern restaurants. Walk off your meal at Ohori Park and the nearby Fukuoka Castle ruins.

The tallest building in Fukuoka provides an excellent vantage point to watch the sun set and the city go from day to night. They've also got a restaurant where you can have a pint and just watch city life below you. The souvenir coin is also pretty cool as you can engrave your name and date of visit, making it truly unique.

The Fukuoka airport is probably the most convenient major airport in Japan because of its central location in the Fukuoka metropolitan area. It is completely modernized with plenty of shops, restaurants, convenience stores (on the arrival floor), and bank ATMs. Two stops away on the subway and you arrive at Fukuoka's ground transportation hub - Hakata Station. The International Terminal is on the other side of the runway and accessible by a free shuttle bus. Bus connections to other Kyushu cities can be found at one of the two terminals just outside the ground floor. Visited 13 April 2020.
