Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum

Revisited after about 6 months since the last time. Have been here many times but always seem to find something I’ve missed before or something new added, and enjoy seeing the same exhibits again. Also, the special exhibition changes every few months. Well worth revisiting if you haven’t been for a while.

Angel Land Fukui

Reviewed By momocachan

I am a teenager who has gone to Fukui for many summers. Although I am probably the oldest one there every time I visit, I still love to go as it is fun and nostalgic. The outdoors is free, as well as climbing the dinosaur, but there is a small fee for adults to accompany children in the inner science exhibits. This place is affordable, mentally stimulating for children, and really fun. There also vending machines and a small cafe. I have personally enjoyed playing in the small stream around the playground, as there are frogs and tadpoles to observe (in the Summer). I highly recommend this place to make good memories!

Mikuni Fireworks

The Mikuni Fireworks festival has a history reaching back to before WWII, and is held annually on the Mikuni Sunset Beach on August 11. The display boasts the full-impact splendor of no. 20 (12-Inch diameter) fireworks shells, set piece fireworks and chrysanthemum bursts, with a total of around 7,000 fireworks that paint the night sky in majestic colors. The chief highlights of the event are the water-level fireworks, which are lit on the boat and hurled towards the water, exploding in a wonderful semicircular shape against the horizon. Aside from the area around the beach, the fireworks can also be witnessed from the area around the Kuzuryu River Boat Park on the opposing shore.

Asuwayama Park

Roads connect various areas on Asuwayama, making an interesting park near Fukui station. The park is walkable, though all paths are roads so sometimes need to avoid cars. The main attraction is the zoo, which is free to enter, though closed during winter. Tripadvisor still shows it at the incorrect location.

Nishiyama Park

Reviewed By KlapauciusJapan

A lovely park, with beautiful scenery, very clean and well kept. Be prepared to walk up steps or slopes as the park is on a mountain with various areas at different levels/heights, such as open fields, picnic areas, children’s play area, and a small zoo. Lots of plants and flowers around, too. The zoo has a variety of monkeys, such as howler monkeys who were being loud, some birds, and lesser pandas (the main attraction). The lesser pandas were all sleeping or hiding this time, though. There is a shop and cafe at one end of the park, which sells mainly souvenirs, and snacks. It was very busy. If you come by car, there is free parking at 2-3 places around the park, but very limited so it may be difficult to find a space.
