We were so excited to be able to take the 1.5 hour trail ride! We had two adults and three teens/tweens in our group. This was a wish come true for our 11 year old! Charles met us at the barn and helped us get ready for the ride. The horses were beautiful! Kurt was a great trail guide and answered many questions along the way. We were so happy to have found the Royal Horseshoe Farm. The kids are already asking about a return trip!

Caves in the Shenandoah Valley that feature anthodites, rare rock formations.
Compared to Luray these caverns are much more real! Small spaces at times, beautiful lighting, only a mile walk! Our tour guide Christina was excellent! She was well informed, funny, and had a beautiful singing voice( you’ll find that out in one section of the cave) We learned so much about the history of the caverns, the rare formations that are here and only a few in the world! Everyone in our group respected each other’s space and there was no problem with social distancing! The tour guides are allowed to accept tips and Christina deserves a big one! The gift shop has great clothing, glassware, rocks, etc. to choose from and things are packaged nicely for safe transport in your car. These caverns are a must see, and don’t forget to ask for tour guide Christina!

Great local Virginia vineyard with good wines and very good countryside view. Enjoyed most of the wines we tried in our tasting. Also loved the hot mulled wine (available this December), one of the best mulled wines we've had and great if you visit in the winter!

Great wines, fantastic service, knowledgeable owners, educational visit. First stop on any winetasting trip in the northern Shenandoah Valley, VA MUST include the Glen Manor Vineyards. Bag a picnic lunch, purchase a top-quality wine from these folks, and spend an hour or two on the grounds. You will not be disappointed! PS. Stop at the Elements Restaurant in Front Royal for your lunch-to-go. The gourmet food pairs nicely with all of Glen Manor's selections.
What a GLORIOUSLY relaxing & enjoyable visit my friends & I had at Glen Manor Vineyards yesterday! Three of us had driven up from Fredericksburg, VA, meeting up with a friend who lives locally & who had highly recommended this winery. And was he ever right! He'd made reservations for us all, so we could enjoy a leisurely afternoon sampling delicious red & white flights, sharing a favorite bottle, spreading out our picnic lunch, & safely visiting w/ one another while taking in wide open views of the gorgeous vineyards, Blue Ridge Mountains, & Skyline Drive high above. Unlike many wineries that crowd in as many people as they are able, Glen Manor presently is open by reservation only, providing first rate customer service, & taking superior (yet not at all onerous) precautions to ensure everyone's safety - from their initial greeting & tableside service to their restroom policy, to final purchases, payment, & good-byes-til-next-time! First rate customer service experience, exceptional environment, delicious wines ... What a MARVELOUS DAY we all had! THANK YOU, GLEN MANOR!

We love this park and try to come here at least a few times a year. It's a relatively easy drive from DC. Usually we just get on Skyline Drive and go from one entrance to the next, in between check out the overlooks and also do some hiking. This time we entered the park at Swift Run and since it's already late afternoon chose the Hightop Summit trail - located at mile post 66.7, just about a mile south of Swift Run entrance. This is a perfect trail for a short hike - 3 miles total out and back, with 900+ ft elevation gain spread out pretty evenly all the way up, and a fantastic view at the top where there's a small rock outcropping - not good for a large group especially in these pandemic times but can probably fit 6-8 max at the same time sufficiently distanced if scattered above and below. Trail is well maintained and scenic with big rocks by the side. Surface is alternately packed dirt and rocky (this is part of the AT after all). The ascent is a steady uphill but never very steep (rated as "moderate"), so pretty easy if you hike at a leisurely pace - for more cardio workout will need to hike faster. Best thing is the return trip is all the way down. Weekends probably should be avoided - we were there on a weekday afternoon and it wasn't empty. In the 2+ hours encountered a total of about 30 people in varying group sizes of under 6 (parking area is also limited - capacity about 8 cars).
