The Postcard Museum proposes you a guided tour through ages and countries. Only original documents (period 1900-1920) are presented to you. Furthermore the story of Postcard told by itself, numerous themes are approached : illustration, means of communication, transport development (subway, bus, railroad), small jobs today disappeared, the medicine, advertising, music, charm, humor, and many other curiosities ! Besides its permanent exhibition, The Postcard Museum proposes you every quarter a temporary exhibition.

The home of Auguste Escoffier is a now a museum with several exhibits on this famous French cook, considered by many the father of modern culinary art. The Museum is closed until 21 December 2018 inclusive. We will welcome you from 22 December 2018 : from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, every day.

This is a definite must place to visit for gourmets! The well-designed and well-run museum in the house where Escoffier was born is now run by the city. The 6 euros entry fee even included a Peach Melba dessert and coffee on our visit! The precious collection of menus and the well preserved period cooking utensils are enlightening: one comes away with a better understanding of how French cuisine was born and its historical influence on the New York dining scene.

Besides the murals all other decoration is also by the multitalented artist - red velvet chairs, metal lamps resembling flowers, leopard carpet and the obligatory Marianne in all French wedding halls, this one a young Brigitte Bardot reflecting endlessly on opposite mirrors. There is a taped English language introduction giving the basic facts, but the live French presentation every Thursday costing 4 euros has all the juicy parts. After redesigning the Mayors office in the building formerly functioning as a casino Cocteau was asked to do the wedding hall but refused instantly. He only changed his mind when his former lover, legally known as his adopted son fell in love with a woman and wanted to marry her. The characters in the murals depict all the strong feelings this caused.

What a beautiful location.A free audio guide gave a detailed description of the villa and its history.Fanfastic gardens and views.Also had afternoon tea in the restaurant very pleasant.Overall great value as we spent over 4 hours wandering the house and grounds.If you are travelling from Nice the bus number has changed from the 81 to 15.

Aa well as Roman busts and statues and incredible Egyptian artefacts including hieroglyphics there are vases, glassware, jewellery and coins, and an array described as the world's "largest private collection of ancient armour", There are also works by old masters and modern artists, such as Rubens, Degas, Rodin, Braque, Picasso – and on to Mark Quinn, Damien Hirst and Antony Gormley – intended to show the continuity of classical themes into the present. The interesting labels are in French and English.

Scenic old fortress turned into an interesting, unpretentious naval museum, with stunning 380° views. The location is superb, but the best part is getting into the museum. With information in both French and English, the mixed media exhibits are appealing for both young and old. Quite low cost by St Tropez standards, the 3euros entrance fee is a steal! The exhibits are tastefully displayed and cover the true identity of Saint Tropez in the past 500 years. Indeed, St Trop was not just a picture perfect fishing village, but it turns out it had much greater importance. The exhibits cover commerce and fishing trips along Provence’s coast, as well as long hazardous voyages aboard large merchant sailing boats beyond Cape Horn, journeys along the coasts of Africa and India, and the age of luxurious liners. Amongst notorious Tropezian celebrities, I discovered De Suffren, who had volunteered to help the colonists during the American Revolutionary War. Highly recommended !

Lucky artist to have a custom made house for his works - and even already during his lifetime! Especially with the wonderful Biblical Message cycle in mind! The Biblical Message was what I enjoyed viewing the most and it made me thinking of not so lucky Alfons Mucha, who had painted beautiful poetic monumental cycle Slav Epic and his paintings are "homeless" so far. I like the way the Biblical Message is presented in this museum. I extremely enjoyed viewing the documentary about Marc Chagall, not only because the documentary was well done, but was screened in a "theatre" room with comfortable chairs, with stained glass windows by Marc Chagall himself and there even was a harpsichord decorated by him there. In other rooms there were also his other paintings, sculptures, drawings and ceramics to be seen. Also an interesting mosaic in the yard to be admired through a glass wall. I highly recommend seeing this museum.
