In the heart of Texas Hill Country, Fredericksburg is a small city with a unique German flavor in its quaint bakeries, Hauptstrasse (Main Street) boutiques and generations-old peach orchards. Weekenders from nearby San Antonio and Austin have long appreciated the charm of the city's many B&Bs and "Sunday House" Inns. The surrounding Texas Hill Country is home to lush vineyards, making up one of the country's largest viticultural areas.

My husband and I came here as I’m not much into traditional wines and figured it was worth a shot to see if this was a style I might like. Harvey, our tasting ambassador, led us through the tasting and small bites and it was a good experience. Even suggested a way to use the Adoration in a cocktail that my husband and I will have to try out in the future. We became members so we could enjoy it now that we are moving out of Texas. We bought a couple bottles that same day and enjoyed our complimentary glass of sparkling wines on the porch.

Excellent vineyard to visit if you’re looking for a tour, insight to the production / supply chain, great ambiance, and a great wine testing experience. As a Napa / Sonoma veteran, this is as close as it’ll get to that within the “TX wine country.” Staff was extremely friendly and did not overly pressure to join the wine club. Wine quality was also superior to other local vineyards. Likely to return and recommend to others.

Great little place for a wine tasting. The sommelier on staff was great and had fantastic recommendations. Highly recommend the Politics and Religion blend.

We were so suprised to find this winery out in the middle of no where (we're from the east coast). Mike was a great host. He explained all our wines in the tasting. The wines were so good. I loved the Viognier full of flavor. All the wines we tasted were equally as good. The place looks like it would be a great place to sit back shoot pool, listen to music and eat pizza. So much character!!!! We would definitely go back!!!

In 2011 Messina Hof Hill Country Winery opened its doors in Fredericksburg, the second largest wine tourism destination in the country. Sitting on nearly 10 acres in the heart of Texas wine country along Highway 290, this winery also has its own vineyard. The Lenoir grapes grown at this location go into the making of more traditional style ports.
Have visited many wineries in several states and acknowledge Napa has the greatest number of great ones. Messina Hof is on par with Napa in many areas but excels and surpass others we have visited in one specific area—the token system for tastings is great. Tokens allow a more relaxed and thorough experience without feeling rushed at a counter and trying ton”somewhat quickly” move from one sample to the next. The relaxed atmosphere is greatly enjoyable and highly conducive to purchase what you just experienced. Thank you Messina Hof.

Went here as a part of the Majesty Wine Tour. This was our first stop and it really set an amazing start to the day. I chose the Sweet & Light wine list and absolutely loved all of them. My favorite being the Sweet Duet 2019 bottle! Kirk was our host and he was truly amazing. He talked us through each wine and was very attentive. Very much enjoyed having a conversation with him. Definitely will be finding my way back to 4.0 Cellars!

Six Shooter Cellars offers classic wine varietals, rich dessert wines, sweet honey meads and one of the largest selections of sweet fruit wines in the Hill Country. With over 40 choices, we have something for every palate! Come visit us in our historic building on the 290 wine trail, taste a frozen Wine-A-Rita or try out the famous Six Shooter Jalapeno Shot! Love this place! Friendly staff and great selection of fruit flavored wine! I’m more into sweet wines, and this place offers a lot. I like when the wineries allow you to split up your tasting among two people, so slow down how quickly you become tipsy.

Pontotoc Vineyard's Weingarten is nestled in a quaint cottage with an authentic weinkeller in a stone walled courtyard in historic Fredericksburg, Texas. Similar to the heurigen of Vienna, Austria, the weingarten provides a family atmosphere in an intimate environment for sharing a picnic of excellent local food and wine. The mission of Pontotoc Vineyard is to make vintage wines of exceptional quality from grapes grown in the Texas Hill Country. We are a fifth generation Texas farming family and take great pride in bringing the fruit of our labor to your table.
Great Sangria, nice space, delicious snack basket! I highly recommend a stop here if visiting Fredericksburg.
