Designed by renowned architect Philip Johnson, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art houses a preeminent collection of nineteenth-and twentieth-century painting, sculpture, and works on paper, and it is one of the nation's major repositories of American photography. It is also home to nearly 400 works by Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell, the two greatest artists of the American West. Museum Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Thursday 'til 8:00 p.m.; Sunday 12:00 to 5:00 p.m.; Closed Mondays and major holidays
The Amon Carter has just undergone a complete renovation of the museum itself. This facility renovation has provided a new platform to allow a redesign in the way the art is grouped and displayed along with some updated lighting. Amon Carter, the man, was a great supporter of Fort Worth and used his wealth to accumulate an extensive collection of American Art and display it for all to enjoy. Don't pass up the opportunity to view this collection.

This site focuses on Fort Worth's role in the cattle business.
Fun, interesting, authentic place that packs a lot of history and local trivia into a small space. Worth the visit if you want to get a feel for the Stock Yards, their history, and their role regionally.

Museum has free parking and is handicapped accessible. Beautiful bronzes surround this beautiful building so walk around and look at them as well. The gift shop has great merchandise and is very reasonable. Staff are knowledgeable and are willing to answer any questions. There is an audio tour you can take on your phone that has great added information. You should really stop in for a great morning or afternoon in Ft Worth!! This is a treasure!!!

If you're a hard-core aviation enthusiast this is museum is not to be missed. They have roughly 20 planes in the collection but the exact number of planes present will vary from week to week since most are airworthy and fly to airshows during the season. Hint: During the winter most of the aircraft are in the hangar for annual maintenance, but if you want to hear they run try warmer weather. This is not a "polished floor and velvet rope museum". It's an operational restoration center, restoring and maintaining historic aircraft. The benefit is that you can get up close to many of them and talk to the people working on them. Some may even offer to let you peak inside. This is a good museum for kids that are interested in aviation. My 7 year old granddaughter loved sitting in a jet trainer cockpit simulator and crawling through a Navy bomber in the back yard. Another thing that makes this museum different is that the museum staff and the aircraft crews will answer questions and put the exhibits in context as the roles they played in history. Also many aircraft models and artifact exhibits. Be sure to check their hours and days of operation online before you go.

Folks don't know that the original Ford Tri-Motor 5-AT of American Airlines was the same plane of Charles Lindbergh and Haliburton Oil of Duncan, Oklahoma. On the larboard side of the fuselage was the name American Airlines while the starboard side was written "S.A.F.E. Way Air Lines" (Southwest Air Fast Express). The plane is in the Smithsonian.

If you lived in Fort Worth years ago, chances are you rode a “trolly” from a large parking lot underground to Leonard’s. They had everything in several buildings in downtown Fort Worth.you can see many items from Fort Worth’s past along with photos collected over the years by one of the Leonard Brothers daughters. While there, grab a tasty hamburger in the adjoining room.
