This is an outstanding museum you don't want to miss. We spent 4 hours going through all the exhibits. You can see it in half the time if you don't attend the 2 hour movie, but it is a highlight as it provides you the history of the Seals from beginning to present and we learned a lot. I highly recommend it. You will enjoy sitting in a black hawk helicopter, maybe seeing and petting a Navy K9 puppy, seeing Seal Delivery vehicles, maybe trying out the obstacle course, and getting a real appreciation for all the Seals do! You can even dress up for a photo opp!

The Ocean Discovery Visitors Center is a destination where the community can come to learn about the research conducted by the marine scientists, engineers and students at FAU’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. Since its remodel in January 2017, the center houses five educational exhibits including Marine Drug Discovery, Marine Mammal Research & Conservation, Aquaculture & Stock Enhancement, Marine Ecosystem Health and Ocean Engineering. Visitors are welcome to explore these exhibits on their own or participate in a free 30-45 minute interpretive tour provided by a FAU Harbor Branch Graduate Student. The center also features a video theater, aquaria relevant to research topics, interactive displays, a touch tank, gift shop and student information station. While admission and interpretive tours are free, donations are accepted and contribute to Harbor Branch outreach initiatives. Group visits (10 or more people) are also available and must be reserved in advance.
The graduate students that are the tour guides are very knowledgeable and informative. Kids as well as adults will enjoy the touch tank. Lots of really neat sea critters to see and touch. It's amazing what this research has done to continue finding new medical cures. They also have an awesome tour of the campus you can take on a golf cart and after hurricane season passes the lagoon tours will start up. An affordable gift shop is there to get a souvenir of your experience!

Our focus is on displaying ecosystems as complex communities of organisms interacting in their environment. At the Marine Ecosystems Exhibit, visitors can explore six different Florida marine habitats and learn about the complexity and importance of marine ecosystems. The largest aquarium is a model of a Caribbean coral reef. Other displays include living models of seagrass, mangrove, estuarine and nearshore habitats, as well as a deepwater Oculina coral reef. There are several smaller aquarium displays and a touch tank where you can meet some of our local sea creatures. Feeding Frenzy tours daily at 10:30am and Snack Time tours daily at 2:30pm. Behind-the-Scenes tour Saturday at 2:00pm.
Stop by on Tuesday for a free visit to a wonderful collection of Florida's dwindling Coastal Reefs and all the wonderful fish and corrals they live in.

This beach has the feel of a true hidden gem. Soft light colored sand and the water incredibly clear for the Atlantic. Somehow there are no crowds and we had about 50 yards of gorgeous beach. We had seen a manatee swimming close to the shore here a few months ago

We have been here numerous times since we moved to FL. There is nothing negative that I can say about this place! It’s absolutely beautiful and nothing you would except to find in FL. My kids love it when they come to visit. The fish in the pond are fun for all ages to see and feed. Bring quarters they can here you walking and want fed haha!! The wine tasting is nice so you can try before you buy! The live music on weekends is always lively and entertaining.

Hard to describe the feeling of being able to walk here on the beach au naturel. We love the beauty of the area... and it's other worldly to have such rare moments of freedom when we can feel the breeze, the sun all over. We were also happy to have other nudists nearby; there's a feeling we get of "safety" in numbers that adds to our comfort.

I have been a snow bird since 2004 and a resident of North Hutchinson Island since 2008. I have watched Fort Pierce grow from a little sketchy sea side town to a great place to live. Every year Fort Pierce grows and improves. People used to be a bit embarrassed to say they lived in Fort Pierce. Now in 2020 I am proud of our town. The Jetty Park has made a great transformation. The new restaurants, the renovated park, the expanded parking, the swing sets, picnic tables, clean family area and beach make it a great place to spend a sunny day.

The downtown section of Fort Pierce offers a lot of fun and great dining options for visitors. There is a free parking garage between Orange Avenue and Avenue A, between the railroad tracks and US Highway 1. There is also free street side parking and a huge parking lot in the vicinity of the Fort Pierce City Marina. Once parked, there many options, all within walking distance. The marina offers great sights of beautiful boats with restaurants and bars overlooking the Marina and Indian River Lagoon. One street to the west of the marina is the main drag, also known as Second Street. Sunrise City Theatre anchors the south end and north of there is a excellent steak house, ice cream shop, and numerous other dining and drinking establishments, boutique stores, a micro brew (Sailfish Brewery), and a place where one can practice throwing an axe. Not sure why someone does that but it’s pretty popular and draws a good crowd. Most restaurants offer outdoor dining options too. The north end of “downtown” is anchored by the AE Backus Museum and Gallery (near the Indian River) and Cider Works (near the railroad tracks). Every Saturday morning the marina area hosts a farmers market and a smaller farmers market takes place on Wednesday afternoon. Both are very popular and locals sell both produce and arts/crafts. When your done visiting downtown, consider a trip across the bridge to South Hutchinson Island and check out the views of the Fort Pierce Inlet and Atlantic Ocean.
