Oh man this place is fantastic! Wonderful fresh shrimp and fish. We came here several times during our week on FMB. We enjoyed cooking shrimp, grouper and triple tail at our resort! They also have the best cocktail sauce, remoulade sauce and a fantastic seasoning. We loved it all so much we went back to get extras to take home of the sauces and seasonings. This place is a must for any visit in our books

My Dad and I visited back in October and there were so many dead sand dollars, we couldn’t fit them all in our hand. We suspected it was a phenomenon brought on by the red tide outbreak we had this year. Fortunately, the day we went it did not affect us. The beach is long, wide and has a lot of nature to observe along the trails, walkway, and on the shoreline. “Amenities include a two-mile (3 km) long beach on Lovers Key. Black Island has over five miles (8 km) of multiuse trails; bicycle, canoe, and kayak rentals, gazebo, picnic areas, boat ramp, and two playgrounds.” It is a beautiful place to see the sunset and get married. They had a huge tent set up complete with chandeliers right on the beach! There is a tram to carry you out to the beach or you can walk a long distance to the end. The tram leaves from the parking lot. There is a building that provides bathrooms and a gift shop with various small snacks & drinks. The park is open from 8:00 am till sundown year-round. There is a cost to get in is $8 unless the mode of transportation is larger or smaller than a standard vehicle. Well worth the trip!

My family and I went on the working waterfront tour. Enjoyable and fun learning about the area shrimp industry. An enlightening, behind the scenes look at the workings of the shrimp operation.

Mound House

Reviewed By kvheltzer - Duluth, United States

We spent a couple of hours here one morning of our weeklong vacation in Ft. Myers Beach. It was a beautiful day and they weren’t many people there so we kind of had the place to ourselves. The volunteers were very helpful and provided excellent information about the history of Mound House and the area. In the excavation site where there had previously been an underground swimming pool was pretty amazing with all of the shells that were unearthed If you want to take a break from the beach we would highly recommend this spot. There is also a very nice fishing pier overlooking the estuary

Bowditch Point Park

Reviewed By TheTwoHarbours - Brisbane, Australia

We absolutely loved visiting Bowditch Point Park. Although we enjoy the hustle and bustle of Ft Myers Beach and its many restaurants and bars, we enjoyed the quiet nature trails, soft sand, and wildlife of Bowditch more. Bowditch Point Park is a gem of a location and perfect for families, groups, or couples looking to get away from the noise and people-packed streets of the main drag of Estero Blvd and at the Fort Myers Pier. Only a 20 minute walk (5 min bike ride) from the pier, Bowditch boasts handicap accessible boardwalks and trails, restrooms, foot washes, picnic pavilions and wide open beach space with great views of the Sanibel Causeway and the Gulf. This would be a wonderful spot for a sunset! At low tide, walk the perimeter of the park along the beach and you will find tide pools filled with wildlife. We saw dolphin, starfish and crab! This area is also known for its saltwater birding and is at part of the Great Florida Birding Trail. Manatee are also known to swim in these shallow waters on the bay side. Parking is $2/hour. Free bike racks are also available. The LeeTran Trolley stops at Bowditch and this is a great way to visit without paying to park if you don't have a bike or want to walk from the pier! The Trolley is free from Bowditch to the plaza and is also accessible.
