I am so glad we decided to visit these gardens. Fabulous views, an amazing rope bridge walk, humming birds, and a peaceful oasis that gives a real sense of the abundant vegetation, both native and generally tropical. Simply Beautiful ! (with a good gift shop, and nice restaurant at car park)

St. Louis Cathedral

A beautiful and unusual iron building, a cornerstone of religious life on the island.

Reviewed By robbygc - Toronto, Canada

The first thing I saw of the Cathedral was the steeple. At the top was the cross. Underneath was the time. Part of the cathedral was attached to houses. It is painted in yellow. Inside theu have a beautiful organ. Behind the altar is Jesus on the cross. Lots of pillars inside the Cathedral The benches were made of wood. I liked the many stained-glass windows. As it was Christmas season, there was a pine tree with anything to make it attractive! The Cathedral was finished at 1893. . A must see!

La Savane

Fort-de-France's central park, featuring beautifully landscaped gardens and the famous statue of Napoleon's Empress Josephine.

Reviewed By wjthmpsn - Memphis, United States

One of the more interesting sights in Fort-de-France is the statue of Josephine in the park. She's headless (and will probably remain so) and has been vandalized, but this is perhaps not surprising given her relationship with Martinique. There are several small places to eat here for a very reasonable price, especially in the evenings.

Grand Marche

Covered market filled with just about everything you can think of. They have spices, Woodworks, rum, and lots of other souvenirs. I also love the fact that they have restaurants inside for you to dine at after or before shopping. I ate at Chez Genevieve and have the best local meal, a three course delicious meal at a fantastic price. Wish they were open longer hours.
