The national park is located on a peninsula about 8 kilometres long and at it's widest it's a couple of kilometres. It separates Lake Wallis from the Pacific Ocean and contains a camping area, picnic areas, Seven Mile Beach, Cape Hawke Lookout and Booti Hill to name a few sites. The picnic areas have a lot of information on sign/poster boards about the history, topography, wildlife and Indigenous People's use of the park.

I visit this scenic beach regularly, both alone and with friends starting this year with beach cricket. The northern end has the steep sand hill, the southern end has the patrolled section with the Cape Hawke Surf Life Saving Club which has a kiosk with good food at good prices, then there's swimming and surfing along the whole beach. The beach is dog friendly.
