On Friday, the 8th of January 2021, my husband and I decided to visit with our granddaughter Skye (five years old) the Goolwa Animal Farm. I read so many good reviews, and I wanted to see this place. The owners are so kind like their many animals. We spent a lot of time with the many rabbits and guinea pigs. Skye found two new friends: a grey rabbit and a brown guinea pig, which she was feeding with carrots, bought in the shop of the owners. Then we had our lunch time at the picnic place. We brought our own breads and vegetables. There is a playground which was very much loved by our Skye. She was hopping from one wood trunk to the other for at least 30 minutes. We met a big brown horse, a pony and a donkey. Then we saw geese, ducks, chicken, two fat pigs, sheep and goats and on a trailer ride emus (for example Mr. Angry, who is really very angry), kangaroos and alpacas. The highlights for us were to be introduced to the 44-year-old Sulphur-crested cockatoo Billy, the nine-year-old python and the three-day-old little goat, which was brought to the owners almost dead after her mother didn't accept it. We three loved this place so much. You feel like being at the farm of your friends. We will be back very soon!!!

d'Arenberg

The idea to build the d'Arenberg Cube came to Chief Winemaker Chester Osborn in 2003. Inspired by the complexities and puzzles of winemaking, Chester created the idea of a cube-shaped building. Each of the five levels have been carefully designed to entice and excite the senses, including features such as a wine inhalation room, a virtual fermenter, a 360degree video room, and many other tactile experiences. Visitors are encouraged to explore the Alternate Realities Museum, located on the ground floor, and view the many art installations on display. The tasting room is located on the top floor, and is open 7 days a week 10am - 5pm.

We were a little concerned that this place had been too hyped up and overrated but it was actually an amazing experience even for me who doesn't actually enjoy wine all that much. The cube is impressive and it's worth just going to get a photo. But I can also highly recommend the tastings on the top floor. Our wine guy James was super friendly, really attentive and engaging, and made it feel like quiet a personal experience even when there were so many people around in the tasting room. I recommend getting there first thing in the morning otherwise it gets super busy. When we left there were people having to line up to get in. And I wouldn't bother with the gallery. Just pay the $15 for the rest of the experience and it should be a pretty enjoyable time!

Coriole Winery

Coriole Vineyards was founded by Hugh and Molly Lloyd in 1967. Coriole is still owned by the Lloyds and is now managed by second and third-generation family members. The estate is situated in the undulating hills of the densely planted McLaren Vale region just within sight of the sea and less than an hour from Adelaide. The original farmhouses were built in 1860 and are now the epicentre of the garden and cellar door at the winery. The original vineyards were planted in 1919. Shiraz is the great tradition of McLaren Vale going back over 150 years, and is the major variety planted on the estate. Coriole has been an Australian pioneer of Sangiovese and Italian varieties since 1985.
