What to do and see in Finger Lakes, Finger Lakes: The Best Arenas & Stadiums

August 1, 2021 Mollie Coke

New York’s Finger Lakes region takes its name from 11 freshwater lakes placed like a handprint between Lake Ontario and the Pennsylvania border. Skiing, hiking and biking trails traverse the landscape; visitors can also indulge in various wine, cheese and beer trails. The area offers a culinary bounty, with an emphasis on farm-to-table cuisine. Rich history and culture are found throughout the region, with one attraction more inviting than the next.

NBT Bank Stadium

Syracuse offers a Big League atmosphere at a Triple A price. Major upgrades are also on the way for 2020 and 2021. Plenty of parking, easy access from the NY State Thruway and Route 81. The stadium is on a campus with the Train and bus Stations, the Regional Farmers Market, and International Foods store. Opposite NBT Stadium is the massive DESTINY USA entertainment/mall, the 6th largest in North America. Several hotels are also very close including the brand new Embassy Suites Hotel. The stadium is ultra-clean, and well-staffed. Food prices are slightly lower than most Triple A teams.

CMAC

Reviewed By thenewyorker1 - Rochester, United States

CMAC has brought me memories that I will have for a lifetime. I have seen Luke Bryan twice and Jason Aldean once. It’s a great venue, they have many options for food and drinks (little overpriced) that are delicious. They also have lawn chairs you can rent if you don’t feel like sitting on the grass or standing. The country concerts do get a little rowdy in the lawn, but it’s a concert so you knew that was going to happen already. If you plan on bringing children I would either get seats under the shell or get there early and take the lawn seats closest to the shell. The farther up the lawn you go the crazier it gets. They have plenty of bathrooms, and they even put some at the top of the lawn for easy access. Getting into the venue is a simple process, the lines are not that long and for each of my CMAC experiences it took about 10 minutes to get through check in and security. So lucky to be able to have such a great concert venue right in my backyard.

We really enjoyed the Rochester Americans (Amerks) hockey game at the Blue Cross Arena. We have been attending events here for over 30 years! So much fun, and not a bad seat in the house.

Tag's opened it's doors on April 15th 1992. The Budweiser Summer Stage followed in 1994 with no more than a large field and a small stage. The desire was to fill a 'niche', provide national headline entertainment in an outdoor setting on a consistent basis. Apparently we have filled that 'niche', we have expanded each year since. The Summer Stage has become a nationally recognized concert venue and has hosted Artists such as: The Steve Miller Band, Boston, Train, Keith Urban, Ted Nugent, The Beach Boys, BB King, Barenaked Ladies, Hootie and the Blowfish, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Willie Nelson, Martina McBride, Huey Lewis, STYX, ZZ Top and many many others.
