Beautiful long beach on the Atlantic coast. The site is often shrouded in fog (in November) but it creates magical charm to the site. Do not miss this place!

What a stunning place this is! I started my hike from the church and worked my way eastwards using the boardwalk. The scenery is just breathtaking! I took my time going down closer to the water by using the carved steps on the rocks (in many places, you have to watch your steps and make sure you put your foot down on rocks that are not slimy). Lots of natural windows facing the ocean ... just spectacular! By the way, do not attempt to walk down if you are wearing sandals or slippers ... I saw one lady almost fall because she was wearing flimsy sandals. She had to walk barefoot on the rocks because she wanted to go where I went. Also make it a point to go to A Boneca ... there is a small entrance way under the rock and, again, two naturally formed windows facing the ocean. Without a doubt, Algarve is a magical place!

This little chapel atop the cliff is a gorgeous little spot. It was super quiet in November with just myself and my partner up there for most of our visit. The church wasn’t open but we walked the grounds and looked peered through the chapel gate. Beautiful stop to check out. Great views. Great photo opportunities.

Pleasant drive along the Algsrve coastline to the most south Western point of mainland Europe. Views outstanding and FREE parking. Cafe and shops at lighthouse, however unable to have access to lighthouse.

Stayed in the heart of it all week, and absolutely loved it. The architecture, cobbled streets, beautiful little stores that hold tons of treasures, and wonderful restaurants and cafes- easily the highlight of the visit to the Algarve. The beaches were just icing! Lovely slow start to the day with activity increasing steadily, and watching the hubbub during the day was charming. Such a charming place.

While staying in Faro and having some spare time, a visit to "Palácio de Estói" is highly recommended. It is only 10km away from Faro and easily reached by car (or public bus). The palace had its construction started around 1840 and was completed only in 1906. It features characteristics of the neo-baroque and neo-rococo styles, with fine plastered ceilings, beautiful paintings and traditional furniture. At its French inspired gardens, ponds, fountains and many marble statues complete the scene. A chapel dedicated to the "Holy Family" is within its premises. In 1977, "Palácio de Estói" was appointed as a Portuguese National Monument and, after totally renovated, it became a hotel. We just drove from Faro, visited the public areas of the hotel, had lunch at its "O Visconde" restaurant and headed to nearby "Ruínas de Milreu". A lovely day at Faro's countryside! Enjoy!
