The train travels along the shore of the Firth of Forth with views of the majestic Ochil Hills, before climbing a tree-lined gradient, passing woodland, wild flowers and waterfalls to the country station of Birkhill. Alight here to take a stroll in the ancient woodlands of the Avon Gorge.Beyond Birkhill, the train crosses the River Avon Viaduct to Manuel beside the Edinburgh to Glasgow railway line. Back at Bo’ness, visit the Museum of Scottish Railways, extended in 2012 with the addition of a 16,000 sq. ft. train shed to house the last remaining "Glasgow Blue Train", a recently restored Class 126 Diesel Multiple Unit and several other heritage items of rolling stock. In the main exhibition hall, operate a railway signal and points, climb aboard heritage locomotives and learn about the making, operating and using of Scottish Railways through the ages. Callendar Park has wonderful extensive grounds and woodlands and a lovely wee loch with seats around it which are ideal for enjoying a picnic. After our walk in the colourful autumn woods we went to the House, once a private residence, for lunch in the upstairs restaurant with the impressive original fireplace and beautifully decorated ceiling. The whole experience was most enjoyable with all covid regulations met and charming staff. Lunch was delicious and afternoon teas are available by booking online. The museum part of the house is on several levels from the basement kitchen upwards through the oak staircase and charts the progress of the area from Roman to modern times. Toilets are spacious, wheelchair friendly and clean and there is a small shop on exit. Check online to find opening times and more information.

Kinneil Museum in the 17th century stable block of Kinneil House is the information centre for Kinneil Estate. 2,000 Years of History tells the story of the park from Roman times to the present day. A short walk from the museum takes visitors to the Antonine Wall (World Heritage Site), a Roman fortlet, a medieval Church and the site of the medieval village, Kinneil House and James Watt's cottage. Open Monday-Saturday: 12.30-4.00pm

What a hidden gem this museum is for any James Bond fan cars and lots of film props. Looks tiny from the outside go through the doors into an aladdins cave of movie memorabilia. Dr who, Harry Potter Thunderbirds the list goes on. The owner Colin is an absolute gentleman and takes time to answer any questions you have. Will defo be returning. We enquired to opening hours as our visit was a surprise for my bond loving brothers 60th birthday, (winter hours differ so check before visiting). Colin opened for a couple of hours and gave my brother a 60th birthday to remember. Like I said an absolute gentleman. Age range 24-60

Quality Fishing- We have three lochans stocked with some of the best quality trout around. Hard fighting rainbow, brown, tiger and blue trout. Golfing- We have 3 large pitching greens, 1 large putting green, 2 full size bunkers and a 300 yards driving range. Shooting- Purpose built air rifle and pistol range where you can come along and use our air guns or bring your own. Coffee Shop We have a coffee shop that serves breakfast rolls, breakfasts, lunches, all homemade and quality cakes and of course teas and coffees. We also have two poly-tunnels where we grow all our own plants, fruit and vegetables. We are also DOG FRIENDLY

What a great place to visit. There are many different activities to suit everyone including, a trout fishery, golf practice range, air rifle shooting range, pony trekking, an animal sanctuary , a kids play area and a great restaurant with a fantastic menu at very reasonable prices. They also sell free range goods and planted hanging baskets. Well worth a visit.

Visited today and stone architecture of this building is stunning. Set in a quiet walled garden with beautiful colourful flowers and plants typical of a countryside estate. Perfect for a picnic or peaceful time for reflection, painting or reading. Or a walk around the forest path. Small car park to park up and a couple of benches to sit on in the magnificent walled garden. Well worth a visit.

If you are at all interested in Roman history this is a must. We parked at the Falkirk wheel and walked along the path that was marked from the canal through to the rough fort Good information boards and easy access to side even in the pouring rain

I am a local in Falkirk and have known this pub for years but have never been much of a fan. However I recently found out it had been taken over by new owners so thought I would give it another try. I was blown away by the service! The new owners were so welcoming and attentive. Me and my friends have now made this our weekly pub. I have thoroughly enjoyed every night I have spent here and look forward to more in the future. It truly is a hidden gem, A must if you are ever visiting Falkirk.
