Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is open April-December. Located in Akron, Ohio, is the former home of F.A. Seiberling, the co-founder of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, and his family. Completed in 1915, Stan Hywet is the one of the most important remaining examples of an American Country Estate built by the wealth created during the Industrial Age at the turn of the twentieth century, when the emergence of modern America made Akron the "Rubber Capital of the World." The Tudor revival Manor House is 64,500 sq. feet and the 6th largest home open to the public in the U.S. Open from April through December, Stan Hywet includes a 65-room Manor House, a conservatory and more than 70 acres of artfully landscaped ground. It is Akron's oldest National Historic Landmark and is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.
Our first time at the manor and it was spectacular! We went for the afternoon self-guided tour of the manor house and greenhouse, conservatory and rain forest, it was absolutely stunning. Parking is very easy you walk over to the admission and get your ticket and they have a gift shop and a small eatery and then you walk to the manor house, it’s three stories and you can walk outside to the gardens, the conservatory greenhouse. In all we spent about three hours there, but it was freezing cold and they did have warming stations but we didn’t do a lot of the outside stuff they do have a large kids play area outside during nice weather. You get a nice booklet with a map and there’s volunteers everywhere around the manor and outside if you have questions, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful! We would definitely go again.

Mall doesn't feel outdated. They keep it clean. Good restaurant options and also a nice food court that serves a range of appetites. Parking on the main entrance side (Market) is tight and limited. Better off coming in from Ghent, parking at Macy's and then entering through there.

A magnificent venue to spend an afternoon sipping good wine and munching on snacks. The view is spectacular! The Chardonnay plus Pinot Noir are quite good. Several varieties available so take your time. We brought our own picnic lunch but they do sell food. The...MoreThanks! So glad you enjoyed. Our goats and alpacas love their graham crackers-kids too! We are family friendly during the day and weekday evenings but discourage bringing children on weekend evenings after 6pm.

We spent a couple of days at Cuyahoga Valley National Park and did 4 hikes. This was our only non-waterfall hike and it was our favorite. The cliffs and rock formations are endlessly fascinating, the woods are very pretty, and the CCC built stairs are worth a look all on their own. If you want to shorten the hike you can come back across the meadow from the Overlook but it would be a shame to do so.
You could do this hike in an hour or so but we all took so many pictures and kept going into the little side rock formations that it took us almost 2 hours to do it.

Of course most people that write negative reviews on this are evolutionists or just don't want to acknowledge that there is a God. A God, that one day, they will bow before and confess He is LORD. The evidence is so clear. It takes more faith to believe in evolution than creation. Having said that, all tours are guided, and self-guided tours are not permitted. Austin was our tour guide. It was just my husband and I, which I liked. Got to touch some real fossils and replicas. Took about an hour. The Bible section was optional, which of course we did. They had some live animals there and told the six days of creation story. Austin was very informative and did a great job.

My kids love going to the Nature Realm and walking through the woods and running around in the grass. I love that they have free events for kids on Thursdays during the summer. You can also feed the birds which is always a highlight for my kids.

Great old theatre. Seen The Beach Boys here. Seats are comfortable and plenty of room. Prices for drinks aren't too bad. Beautiful old theatre recently restored. Theatre is easy to find, right down town.

We stopped while touring the Cuyahoga Valley National Park on a Sunday afternoon. Szalay's was having a festival going on with entertainment, prepared food booths, and of course their famous fresh vegetable products. The fresh corn was 50 cents per ear, but it was delicious when we prepared it at home. i do not know if they do this every weekend or not.

This is the ideal buffer between Akron and Cuyahoga Falls. Great for dog walks or runs. The Mary Coldwell cave (or whatever it's called) is nice from an historical perspective, but nothing much to see. Mostly busy with people taking a stroll. Having a look at the water fall near the dam is really nice!
