Trout Lake Nature Center

The Trout Lake Nature Center is a quiet and peaceful place in the little town of Eustis. Staff and volunteers work to educate about, protect and conserve Florida's environment. Trout Lake Nature Center encompasses 230 acres that include a nature center, museum and turtle habitat, surrounded by a network of dog-friendly short trails that meander through a variety of upland and wetland habitats. A boardwalk leads to a covered dock on Trout Lake with the possibility of wildlife viewing. Throughout the Covid, trails have remained open for visitors to walk. Currently, only the Education building with its hands-free exhibits is open for viewing. Masks are required indoors and leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome outdoors.

We really enjoyed our visit being surrounded by nature at Trout Lake Nature Center. You are welcomed with a magnificent oak tree. Don’t miss the two mini boardwalks off the main trail (Adventure Trail and Bobcat Trail). The kids loved them and it felt truly like an adventure. Then if you continue straight you get to Trout Lake which also has a beautiful boardwalk. Very nice nature museums on site with clean restrooms, and a couple of turtles outside too. Fun and educational trip for kids!

This was a great fine - loved the trail except for one part that was under water - only about 15 feet but when we walked around the path in the weed I mistepped and my foot went under muddy swampy water. Also my husband found a tick when we got home - probably acquired on that stretch. Fairly sunny, some very sandy parts.

This little spot is terrific. Fun hiking -- especially if you're a geocacher. Close in to town. Composting toilets, so you can spend some time. Bring your own water and look for the wildlife.

Lots of paths and great views. We get good exercise and my 5yr old loves exploring around the beautiful creek with flowing water.
