MacGregor Ranch Museum

I have been to the MacGregor Ranch and Museum three different occasions...with a small group, a large group of school-aged kids, and a group of long distant friends...all three visits were amazing....and each group was enriched with the historical ranch house tour and discussion of life on the land in Estes Park! I know that the tales were true and so interesting. And the ranch is very special in its location next to Rocky Mtn. Nat'l Park.

Tours are private and guided, and feature photographs, documents and other exhibits pertaining to Mills' life and work in Colorado. Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, it is privately owned and operated by two decendants, Elizabeth and Eryn Mills. The museum also has items for sale, including Mills' books. Cash or check is preferred, but credit cards are also accepted via PayPal either through the website or in person. The trail to the museum is not handicapped accessible and there are no public restrooms. Pets may remain in the vehicle.

My husband and I toured the Enos Mills cabin and property with his great-grandaughter Eryn as our guide. A fascinating 2 hours... Eryn offered numerous anecdotes about the homestead and surrounding area, information that you won't find in books. The location and view across the valley toward Longs Peak is spectacular. A special opportunity to learn about Enos Mills and the area's history from a delightful family member. Highly recommend.

Wow!! Such a large selection of a variety of rocks. I can’t believe how much time we spent there. My only limitation was how to get my pieces back home as we were on vacation. You can get just beautiful pieces of a variety of rocks or stunning jewelry or carved pieces.

Stanley Steam Car Museum

There is one of these at the visitor center museum and one at the Stanley Hotel. These are amazing cars. Check out the lights...they are lanterns. Stanley had the first shuttle service here early in the 20th century and he used his Stanley Steamers to bring tourists up to Estes from the front range. This guy was genius.
