—- A very nice excursion away from the standard tourist hotspots. Arnold was a really pleasant guide who led us into corners that one does not see as a tourist. From a bakery, jewellery manufactory and fruit shop to the Shell beach and its finka. All in combination with a touch of ecotourism. The culinary tasting for lunch should not be forgotten either (fish lovers be careful, but also the vegan ???? among you). Highly recommended!

Rancho el Contento is a small Ranch, near to Cabarete, outside from tourism. We have healthy horses with which we would like to show you some of the dominican republic. Whether in the mountaisn by river , by typical villages to a sandy beach or to a waterfull , ther is something for everyone no matter you are a beginner or a experienced rider.
As a 3-day eventer in my previous life and extremely knowledgable about equine care, I can personally recommend Rancho el Contento. Ute's first priority is the care of her horses, as it should be. She personally leads every ride. She is dedicated to helping locals care for their horses, to working with rescue agencies and to adopt horses in need of a home and good care. All her horses are rescue horses that she has taken in, healed, trained and they are happy and healthy. She has strict schedule so that the horses are given much time off between rides so that they are not over worked. When they do go out, they are happy and energetic and not despondent. They are healthy and strong and happy to go on a ride! Having grown up riding, the care and attention a horse is given is critical to me.Her horses are happy, loved and love to run when given the opportunity. Which leads me to the next best thing,....... we went on the village/beach ride, there were 4 of us in the off season of April. We were on the beach for over 50 minutes, of a 3+ hour ride, cantering, galloping, trotting and laughing! We did not see a single person or building, just miles of sandy beach! We could not swim with them as the waves are too strong. We could canter in the shallow surf and sand which was a delight! Even beginners, who were game, were allowed to canter along the beach and experience a dream! I dislike the US for people's litigious nature! I greatly appreciated being to able to gallop with Ute's horse, Colorado, along a deserted beach instead of being constrained to a walk and/or a person leading me! The ride to the beach was so special! We were on the beach for 50+ minutes, then the ride back was an hour including a stop for cold drinks. Ute shared her knowledge of the local culture and botanics - pointing out the various fruit trees and shared her knowledge of the country. We learned a lot from her, knowledge that we would not otherwise learn! I highly recommend this tour. it is reasonably priced and it is a wonderful experience! ......one you could never get in our litigious US country!

During this half day experience we will show you our organic farm where you can learn about aquaponics and sustainable agriculture. The Taino Organic farm grows a variety of fruit, vegetables and super foods which you’ll be able to taste fresh off the trees. Then we are heading with our inner tubes to the beautiful River Yasica for a blissful river float followed by a farm fresh meal.
