This is a very old Shiva & perumal temple in the same campus. This is one of the 274 padal Petra sthalangal.. This place is also Called " koodu thurai".. In the entrance of the temple itself you can see " Parama patha vaasal" of Lord Vishnu nmin the left side of the main Raja Gopuram.. As soon as you enter the temple, you could see Lord Vishnu sannithi. Then comes the Sivan sannithi and then you could see the river bank of the temple. In this river bank, the final Rituals for the elders of he family who were no longer living are done. Since, Cauvery river, Bhavani river and the Mystic Aahaaya Ganga are flowing here, this Temple is also called Dakahina Triveni Sangadam.. In 1804, British collector of Coimbatore was saved by the Amman from the danger of death. His Bungalow collapsed in the night time, before which a small girl came and took him Out of the bungalow .. When he turned back to thank the girl, he was shocked that the girl has disappeared.. The next day, the priest of the Temple told that it as none other than The lordess Bhavani Vedanayagi Amman has saved him From death.. So he bore three holes exactly opposite to the Amman sannithi and touched the holes and prayed to Amman. He also presented a gold plate to the goddess with his signature dated 11/1/1804.. These are even now kept and preserved with care..

An excellently maintained peaceful temple surrounded by River Cauvery. No doubt or do not rethink, if you are visiting this temple, you can have bath in River Cauvery and for women folks there is room for changing wet clothes Reaching this temple is bit costly, as the public transport drops you in a nearby cross roads and one has to walk 1 1/2 km to temple. Else private cabs or auto will charge you Rs400/- up and down

Located about 30 kms from Erode town. Public and private transport available upto Chennimalai town. From there you can go in your vehicle or special mini bus operated by temple authority. The moutain road has 9 hairpin bends to reach more than 1000 feet high mountain. 1000 steps route also available to walk. It's a beautiful temple of God Muruga and the shrine is open from 6 am to 6 pm. This temple is reported to be on the highest elevation among other hill shrines of same God.

This historical (~300 yrs old) temple is located in a forest range of Sathyamangalam. The newly built and renovated temple (well maintained) looks gigantic horizontally at all four sides. The artwork and color paintings look very beautiful in the backdrop of green forests and mountains. The well spreadout temple arch embedded with excellent artworks (original southindian architecture) marks the uniqueness of this amman temple. The road just connects to the entrance if the temple and once you stopby there, you tend to feel that you have a reached a safe and divine place in the middle of the forest. People mostly woman throng the temple on Fridays and offer special pujas to the powerful goddess. Burnt sand is offered here (instead of kumkum that is offered in any amman temple) which is another speciality here. It is a must visit temple for everyone who travels from Gobi to Mysore. A 30 minutes halt at this peaceful temple would mean a lot apart from the gauranteed divine experience inside the colorful temple corridors.

The main deity here is Siva, (known as Magudeswarar). There are at least 7 major shrines within this temple for important deities, plus smaller niches for some other deities. The 3 principal deities are Siva Vishnu & Bramha and there are 3 East-facing Gopurams to signify this. This combination does not occur frequently --- more so because shrines for Bramha are rare. The Vanni tree where the Bramha shrine is, is said to be 3000+ years old. This temple also celebrates the Eastward turn of River. Kaveri and the Ganesha in the temple is believed to have engineered this. There is rich folklore behind every deity here, and that makes the temple more interesting. Do read up the stories from the net and you will be able to appreciate the art inside the temple. Devout Hindus consider this a 'parihara sthalam' (a place where you perform specific rituals to remedy certain misfortunes in your life). From a historic perspective, this is linked to the Pandya kings; it is also 'padal-petra-sthalam' (meaning saints called Nayanmars have composed hymns praising and describing the temple). This gives it not only religious significance, but also establishes the historicity of the temple. The architecture and stone carvings in the temple are very beautiful; hence, I would recommend visitors to budget enough time to stand back and observe the wonderful sights. The Kaveri river is right in front of the temple, so do go there to enjoy its serene natural beauty, and take a dip if possible. Kodumudi is on State Highway 84 between Erode and Karur. So the temple is easily reachable from both these towns. The Temple is also within walking distance from the Kodumudi Railway Station, so rail journey too is an alternative.
