The visit was in connection of a yoga retreat, at Adi Shankara Nilayam, Veliyanad Kochi. We were on our way from Kozhikode to Veliyanad, we dropped by, at Kalady Adi Shankara Nilayam. The whole place is a small complex maintained by Sringeri Shankaracharya Mutt, consists a few monuments; 1) The Adi Shankara Temple is a quadrangle of small temples, paintings depicting life of ADI sHANKARA erected in the place where Adi Shankara lived as a child, till 8 years of age. The most important is a small stone pillar, which is supposed to have survived from Adi Shankara's time. The place is well maintained by the Adi Shankara Mutt, Sringeri, is serene and peaceful, by the banks of River Purna, now called Peiryar. 2) Sri Krishna Temple is adjacent to the above structure, small in size, which Adi Shankara and his family were supposed to have used as their family temple. 3) The MuthalaKaduvu, next to the above two monuments is a part of the River Purna / Periyar is apparently a small detour of the river, which happened as a result of intense prayer by Adi Shankara, requesting the river to come near his home, so that his ailing mother could continue to take her rictualistic bath. Preferable to reach there in the morning, the Temple clases by 10 AM, The Janmabhoomi ??closes at noon

An excellent place to rewind your spiritual feelings, with cool , Green Fresh environment, near the river side.... lot of devotees, mainly poor people, who pray with closed eyes sincerely to achieve their wishes....., The Jack fruit trees out side the the temples, were fully covered and loaded with plenty of fruits, even on the roots, gives you a luxurious look...which will create a happy mind, on the first sight itself.....

Beautiful, serene and quiet place. Full of divine vibrations on Mahashivaratri ... vedic chants in the temple on the banks of river Purna, river flow in synch with vedic chants , quiet and pleasant atmosphere - It is the "heaven on earth", "Abode of Shiva shakthi". I and my family visited Sharada maatha temple, Jagadguru temple and Lord Krishna temple. Participated in the Shivaratri puja for some time. I wish to visit this place frequently and be part of the cosmic blessings of Jagadguru and Maha Shakthi.

The temple is located in Kaloor, Kochi. It about 15 minutes drive from Lussie junction. The Temple is simple beautiful... typical kerala style architectural temple, with superb wood craving. The best time to visit the temple is the evening. Its simply awesome and divine!!!

It is often said that Mahabali (old Ruler of Kerala) lived here and the temple was built by him there is also sayings that this temple was the palace of Mahabali. This is one of the Vamana Temple in India and is oldest too.Comming on to the details of Temple there is no sought of dress code and when you enter inside temple switch off your mobile or keep in silent mode. The temple is now under renovation there is a large play ground and car parking area.its a very silent place. The Onam Sadhya is one of the major attraction and the festival of temple starts during onam period.its very colorful and attractive.the preparations of festival starts from Atham and ends in chatayam naal. The grand Sadhya is during Thiruvonam naal.Shiva and Vamanamoorthy are the major god of workship.
