Recently,I drove from Burlington,Vermont to the birthplace of Chester Alan Arthur in rural East Fairfield and it was closed on the July Thursday that I tried to visit it.It is a small yellow house.Considering the contributions that Chester Alan Arthur made to the United States before and during his presidency, this is a disgrace. On the positive side, the countryside near East Fairfield and Fairfield is magnificent.

Dog sledding with Keith was an amazing experience. This wasn't just some random tourist experience, it was an opportunity of a lifetime. They let us into their family and I believe that created a very authentic experience for us. We did an overnight camping trip and it was such a blast. The food was amazing, the dogs were amazing, the setting was amazing. I just can't say enough about how great the experience was.

If you're on the fence about whether or not to do this: just do it! I promise you won't regret it.

We visited this site based on previous reviews and it was worth the trip. The rolling fields are a perfect backdrop for these massive colorful sculptures. The artist supplied a brochure with the names and thought process that influenced the sculptures but we had fun with our own interpretations; flights of fancy, dance, waves, industrial and Native American influences were some of our interpretations. Take a few hours to stroll this lovely site and enjoy nature and art.
The grass may be wet from the morning dew so wear appropriate footgear. Bring a picnic and of course water, sunscreen and bug spray according to the season. Site is best for adults, art students and nature lovers.

I had no idea what to expect. A lovingly converted barn outside - is a cave of tons of Polish salt and extreme comfort inside. The owners are warm and very informative. The cave itself is quiet, refreshing (my friend fell asleep) and kept at a cave-chill temperature. Perfect for a Vermont hot summer day. And the healing power of salt? There is no hocus-pocus here. Me and my family and friends walked out after our 45 minutes of cave comfort feeling happy and yes, chill.

We own a small bed and breakfast in montgomery center in Vermont, and we send ALL of our guests to this wonderful shop located right on main street. They have tons of small gifts and souvenirs, all made locally right here in Vermont, and it is a wonderful way to learn about our many small local farmers who raise animals for their wool and fiber. Montgomery itself has several cute bed and breakfasts, restaurants, and is right next to Jay Peak ski resort so it makes a perfect base for exploring all that Northern Vermont has to offer. If you get a chance to visit, make sure you go to this shop. It is a real gem!! Jay Kerch

Remember the show Northern Exposure? On the show they had the pinnacle of the town's social scene, The Brick. The Shoe is a blend of locals, Canadians, tourists, skiers and the wayward traveler. Great beer selection, great pub food, friendly bar tenders and great ambiance. They often have live music, different weekly specials like $6 pitcher night and 50 cent wings with free pool. The Shoe is also great for people watching.

If you ever get the chance to be on the production crew of Doug and Barbara's Flack Family Farm DO NOT miss the opportunity. Absolute involvement in the fermentation process of vegetables grow, processed, and marketed on their farm. Fascinating education in this fast growing health benefit. Bonus lunch in the farmhouse for all hands who participate. A meal you won't forget and the likes of which you can't get at any "chef owned" restaurant. Best experience my wife and I have had in all our travels.

Lake Carmi State Park

This Vermont lake is a good place to view fall foliage.

Reviewed By Chris D - Guilford, VT

We were planning camping on the Missisiquoi while we were running the section between Enosburg Falls and Missisiquoi Bay when our plans literally got washed away by flood stage water after a heavy nights downpours. We stopped in at Lake Carmi and (Patrick) the kiosk attendant was friendly and helpful. We selected a nice large, grassy site in the trees large enough for our 3 small tents. All 3 couples enjoyed a relaxing nights sleep with only the hooting of an owls to disturb us.
