We throughly enjoyed admiring the beautiful architectural ruins and reading the informative displays at the Ennis Friary. While there, it was easy to feel that the rest of the world melted away, as we took our time looking closely at the exhibits and ruins and reading all of the informative wall panels. Also, the friendly staff from the National Monuments Service who were on duty during our visit clearly had passions for history and for serving the public. Both staff members deserve a special shout-out, as they were incredibly helpful in explaining the history of the complex and the surrounding parts of Ennis. If you want to experience a peaceful place that transports you quietly back to another time, you'll enjoy a visit at the Ennis Friary.

We visited the Clare Museum as part of a history project. We had a class of 12 year olds who were researching Clare and the War of Independence. Curator John Rattigan met us and gave us a very interesting talk. John also showed us artefacts and autograph books from the period. The pupils were captivated. We were very warmly welcomed by the Museum staff who were patient and answered all our questions. The children were captivated by the displays which are laid out in a very accessible manner. Clare Museum is a wonderful facility and we will be making a return visit in the near future. Highly recommended.

My family and I had a private driver for the day. We planned on making a few stops at historic sites we were interested in seeing on our way to Galway. He encouraged that we also stop at Quin Abbey during our trip. This place was amazing!! There were no tourists crowding the area which allowed for perfect picture taking opportunities. I really enjoyed being able to explore the castle at my own pace. The site itself was beautiful and very well kept. This was definitely one of the best parts of my trip here in Ireland!!

Clare Abbey was the first, largest and most important Augustinian house in Clare, founded in 1189. It is situated on an elevated site beside the River Fergus. After Abbey raundabout on the way to Limerick you can see it at your left hand side.
