This is not a drive through only place, it is mostly a hiking place. Very scenic and a variety of lengths of trails depending on your strength of the day. Monarch trail is probably the shortest with poems on boards along the way.

Charlie's Smokehouse

Reviewed By divaw0rld - Richfield, Wisconsin

We LOVE smoked fish, especially when it's fresh, and includes enough smoky taste. Charlie's Smokehouse hits the mark. They have a wide range of freshly smoked local fish (including some frozen). You pick your fish or chunk and it's immediately wrapped in newspaper, weighed, and the price is handwritten on the paper. Charlie's also offers a nice selection of ice cream, a great treat for a warm day. Explore the store and you'll find various snacks, crackers, and candies. Be sure to take a deep breath when you enter the store...it's what you'll remember when you think of Charlie's Smokehouse. When you open that smoked fish that you took home, you'll get to experience the aroma again!

A Farmstead Creamery making our own cheese from our herd of dairy goats and local farm milk. This milk and cheese are used to create fresh baked sandwiches and handmade gelato. Also available are hand picked value wines and craft beers.

Incredibly good goat cheese offerings. Super creamy gelato. Superb sandwiches. The BEST chocolate chip cookie I have had in my life. Great wines and beers. Once we discovered this gem we came back almost every other day for something. Cheese to take home. Lunch. Gelato. A cookie. Cookies and gelato. Samples. A bottle of wine. Everything is top notch. We also went on the Farm Tour, which was an absolute delight. If reveiws only allowed one word it would be: GO!

From the moment you walk in the door, you have the opportunity to sample all their wonderful dips, sauces, jams, mustards, etc! The market is set up nicely with some fun gift items too and a bakery to boot. Wonderful place to stock up on DC goodies!

Ellison Bluff State Natural Area

Nice little park with a great view. There are some steps to reach the view, and a very short stretch of mildly uneven grounds to reach the walkway at the very edge of the cliff. Safety railings and fence are in place so it's safe for most folks. It didn't need a lot of time and is pleasant, if you made it this far north you really ought to take the extra few minutes to stop here.

Island Orchard Cider

Cider House with tasting room and cider pub. Normandy style ciders made from apples grown at our Washington Island orchard and from our Door County neighbors. Open from April thru December.

I've been a cider lover ever since a trip to the UK 30 years ago but it has taken the US a long time to catch up. Most brands I've had are too sweet, too fruity, too bubbly. Island Orchard knows how to make it right. The lavender cider is amazing, we fell in love with it and bought a case.

Cute shop with a wide selection of merchandise especially fruit products like jams, jellies and fruit toppings. But the pies, oh my the pies!! These were the absolute best pies we had all week while in Door County!! Highly recommend the Four Berry Pie, the Cherry and the Cherry Raspberry pie!!

The Island Clipper - Day Tours

Reviewed By Tigerman777

I Decided to take the Island Clipper over to Washington Island and thoroughly enjoyed it. The cost for me was $13.00 for the round trip ticket, being I rented a bike, which was free to transport. The captain navigates the big boat really really well in tight spaces to get out of the small harbor. We go past the Plum Island lighthouse on the way. The narrator shares a lot of great information about the area, including a different reason for Deaths Door having that name than what I was told on the Shoreline Charters tour. It's really fun to go to the bow on the upper deck on a warm, sunny day and see what's coming up ahead. The captain and crew are very nice. Why not walk up to the cabin to chat with the captain and crew? They're very friendly:-). The overall experience was fantastic!! I would do this again without a doubt!!
