Painted Horse Ranch

I was Celebrated my Birthday with Wolf and his crew at the ranch- two fun filled days of trail riding through acres of untouched woods, corn fields, and a running stream. The weather couldn't have been better and the company was awesome! Wolf really takes excellent care of his horses. They are so gentle and lovable, I felt like I was riding a big Dog lol My horse is named Ottawa, and what a good girl she is to ride! I really enjoyed the trail rides to see the leaves change smell the crisp air and admire the beautiful scenery/ I was totally relaxed and just LOVED my Birthday weekend I enquired and Leasing a horse is also available and I truly encourage anyone who loves riding to do this here at PHR . It is something I am definitely going to be signing up for real soon!

Pine Valley Christmas Trees

Reviewed By daisyferret1 - Bear, United States

We go to Pine Valley EVERY year to pick out our Christmas tree. This year we ventured out to Pine Valley on opening tag day to choose our family Christmas tree. As we pulled down the dirt and gravel lane, we were surprised to see how FULL the parking lot was this year! Upon entering, you are greeted by an employee that will ask you how many trees you are shopping for. They will give you a plastic ribbon and a map of the farm. IF you know which variety and height of tree you are seeking, they will point you in the general direction & direct you to parking. Parking is in a grassy field that can be muddy. I recommend waterproof boots or old sneakers and casual wear clothes. Once parked, we ventured off to find our tree. Each year we do the same thing. We spot one that is THE TREE. Then we end up searching for another 30 minutes or so and then end up back at the FIRST tree we picked. That has almost become tradition too! Once we selected our tree, we tied the yellow plastic ribbon on and removed the bottom half of the paper tag from the tree. Note: Trees without tags are NOT available or for sale. Trees with a yellow ribbon and half of the paper hang tag...are already claimed or "tagged". The tag will tell you which variety the tree is and the price. With tag in hand, we return to the gift shop area to turn in our tag and schedule our tree delivery. You can choose to have them cut your tree, drill a hole for a pin stand OR deliver your tree (in certain zip codes). We always get our tree delivered. It is so convenient! This year, due to covid-19 pandemic, the ticket claim area was located outdoors and social distancing was recommended. It felt safe and went smooth. Staff were friendly as always. Even though they moved the claims area outside this year, the gift shop was still open for those interested in ornaments and such. We did NOT go inside this year. Also, on location is a Letters to Santa mailbox for the kids. So, plan ahead...write your letters to Santa and drop them in the box. There is also a open play area for the children as well, but with the pandemic, we did not venture into the play area this year. They also have several wooden photo-ops on location too if that interests you! On opening tag day, Santa visits for a few hours with the kids. You are welcome to take pictures with your own camera/phone. We were worried he would not be there this year due to the pandemic. However, Santa still made an appearance this year for the kids and was still available for photos! This was great to see. Although some things looked a little different this year, it was great to have some sense of normalcy during these crazy times. Overall, another great experience with Pine Valley Trees. We look forward to our tree delivery & to another fun filled tag day NEXT November!

Detwiler's is awesome. Everything they carry is fresh and local, from their produce to the honey. The chocolate milk they carry is from a local dairy and it's the best. They have great flower baskets and plants along with garden and porch furniture and decorations. If you are on Rt 213, make sure to turn at Baker's and check out Detwiler's. You won't be disappointed.

Walnut Springs Farm

Reviewed By daisyferret1 - Bear, United States

Last summer we went to Walnut Springs to pick raspberries and blueberries. Back then they also offered strawberries. We really enjoyed our berries and visit with Walnut Springs last year so we planned on returning this year. This year they were only offering PYO blueberries. However, when we were there we saw that they were adding black raspberries to their farm again. So, we are looking forward to next summer's raspberries! When we arrived, they took families to an assigned section. We were given a bucket and pints to pick the berries. Masks were NOT required in the fields but were required at checkout and recommended if passing other families. Picking conditions were listed as "plentiful" on their Facebook page. We thought the conditions in terms of berry count were good. Berries were easy to locate and pick. Rows were well spaced and maintained. Our family was able to pick about 7.5 pounds of berries in an hour. Once we were done, we headed to the checkout tent. Here they weighed our berries & collected payment (credit accepted). By the checkout tent they also had a portable toilet, hand sanitizer and a water cooler with paper cups. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Walnut Springs. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Fields and bushes were well maintained. Berries were delicious and prices were very reasonable. Parking lot is a small field in front of the picking fields. Picking is from 8am-12 noon most days. We would recommend and will be back next year!

I brought my 2 year old granddaughter on a Tuesday morning. Admission was free for 2 and under and $3 for me-best deal around! At the counter, you can buy goat food for $0,50, and it’s well worth it. There is a picnic pavilion and so many activities. Besides a horse, wonky donkey, chickens, pigs, goats and chickens, there are also swings, tunnels to climb through, a huge sandbox area and climbing/play structures throughout the farm. There is also currently a corn maze included in the price of admission. A great bargain and I would highly recommend for the younger kids
