We took our dog for a hike at Jones Lake State Park. The park protects two Carolina bay lakes, Jones Lake and Salters Lake. These mysterious oval lakes are found throughout the coastal plain region, but their origins are not known. Bay Trail makes a loop around Jones Lake and the surrounding bay forest. A one mile spur leads to Salters Lake. Due to flooding, we couldn't make it all the way around the lake, but still enjoyed our hike. We visited in the winter; I imagine the bugs can get pretty bad in the summer.

I go here at least once a month. I generally sat at the bar, Ken is a great bartender and his service is outstanding. The beer ???? and food ???? is great.
