The volcanic island El Hierro has evolved from an ancient civilization to a prime (yet still pristine) destination for elite divers and beach lovers who crave remote beauty. The waters are calm and brimming with unusual sea life, while aboveground the landscape is peppered with ancient and twisted trees. Explore the lovely villages and hilly stone-laid paths on foot, then feast on rustic meals of fresh fish, local cheeses and wild herbs.

It was our first mirador visited at el Hierro and it was simply breathtaking. The weather was perfect and we could see the entire la Frontera region and the mountain chain. We also took an hour stroll along the ridge just to enjoy this beauty. Good to know that from this mirador starts the hiking treck with the same name, which used to serve the only connection between parts of island before roads were built.

Amazing local food in a beautiful Manrique’s place. Fish (peto and vieja) and cinammon cream- specialty of the place, are highly recommended. Very good service as well.

It was a last minute decision to come here and it was the right one. Being there off season and strolling though empty tiny streets was charming and creepy at the same time. The village was completely abandoned as everyone just left yesterday. Having entire village at our disposition, We spent a good couple of hours swimming in the pool, enjoying views of the raging Atlantic, and discoveing architectural miracles of the fisherman village. The final reward of the day was a stunning sunset upon our return to the parking lot.
