The magnificent Mandara Spa has become a destination in itself and continues to add new dimensions of luxury to the JW Marriott Hotel With a focus on pampering and restoration, the spa is a peaceful oasis resting in the heart of the picturesque resort.
This was our third experience at the Mandara Spa for a couple's massage. After the first one, we were so thrilled that we bought a 10-massage package. Yesterday, we went in for our Valentine's treat and were greated by the usual pipping hot Ginger tea and a red rose for me. We filled our consultations cards and the receptionist came back to inquire the exact details of my husband's recent surgery and brought his massage therapist Nang (who also happens to be a certified physiotherapist) to discuss with him how she'll adjust the massage to avoid the surgery area. My therapist Toom was equally great. I love all the attention to detail in this spa compared to many others. In the private changing room we get slippers, fluffly bathrobes, a safe and two wardrobes for each one's belongings, all bathroom amenities, and proper disposable spa underwear (not the tiny little paper thing that cannot cover anything at all). The treatment starts with a nice warm foot bath with black soap. When you lie with your head down, you get the view of a beautiful oriental flower arrangement. The relaxing music is oriental and plays softly. The therapist's hands are always warm (I'm horrified by those who start a massage or other body treatment with their hands nearly frozen). The massage was just what I requested, with the right pressure and right focus on the areas I cared about. The head massage in the end is amazing. The warm towel that wipes out any excess oil in the end is not only great to prevent stains on your clothes and the risk of slipping while walking, but is also a real bliss. We left happy and relaxed, regretting only that we didn't book a 2-hour massage. We'll be back soon.
