The Heavenly Cathedral

We went here as part of the evening tour, Sharm Secrets by Redsea Holidays. I was gobsmacked to see the beautiful painting on the ceilings and walls. The painting tells the bible stories. A fantastic way to get the community together.

The Red Monastery

Reviewed By T5964ISmarkm

The plain exterior of this ancient monastery is in sharp contrast to the splendor of the artwork inside: the interior doorway is ornately carved, and the frescoes around the main altar are simply breathtaking. All artwork has been carefully restored, is well lit and accessible.

Church Of The Blessed Virgin Mary

Esna's Coptic Churches and Monasteries In the Coptic history, Esna is known as the “City of Martyrs” due to a series of Roman persecutions between 303 and 311 A.D. Therefore, the city and its surroundings are privileged with various religious destinations mostly related to these events such as the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Church of Mother Dūlāji, Shrine of the Three Martyred Peasants

Church of St Sergius and Bacchus

Reviewed By kaducarrasco - Sao Paulo, Brazil

The church is beautiful and small. We went during the pandemic, so it was practically empty. By the way, don't forget your face mask, because in Coptic Cairo it will be requested all the time, contrary to what you see in practically everywhere else in Egypt. The cave is quite small and simple. There are some glass openings on the floor so that you can see the original floor underneath. The cave is where Joseph, Mary, and the infant Jesus are said to have taken shelter alter fleeing to Egypt to escape persecution from King Herod of Judea.

St Simon the Tanner Monastery

Reviewed By Kathleen21613 - Cambridge, United States

Was unaware of the events involving St. Simon, the Muslims vs the Coptic Christians in the 900s, and the Mountain moving 6 km that saved the Coptic Christians from slaughter. The caves are beautiful and amazing, the artistry of the Polish gentleman, sculpting scenes from the Bible into the sides of the mountain, is awe inspiring. Our favorite tour in Cairo.

I just love this place. It is peaceful and the rock carvings are incredible. The story of the miracle of Mokattam is also very special.

Al Mustafa Mosque

Wow..???? Wow..???? Wow..???? The Mosque is absolutely beautiful and is open to everyone and is a must to see if visiting Sharm.. I've not seen a Mosque like this from the outside and I've been to hundreds. It's like out of an Arabian fairytale. The right dress code to wear is located to the left of the main entrance and is free I hear.. I saw many many tourists taking photos of themselves in the Jilbab (long gown) and scarf and they looked really good in it. It is Free to go in and once inside the red patterned carpet and the lighting and architecture are just amazing. PLEASE NOTE: Respect the house of the Lord once inside the main hall, as I saw many many different.. "Especially girls" posing for photos as if they were on a catwalk or on a night out. PLEASE THINK and don't be disrespectful and lower your voices. One would do the same etiquette in a Church.. So PLEASE be respectful. We had the pleasure of going upstairs to the Grand Hall and let me tell you if you think the lower hall was amazing the Grand Prayer Hall upstairs was spectacular with huge lights and different coloured glass and Arabic verses from the Qur'aan. Overall it is a MUST to see if in Sharm. But please be respectful once inside the Mosque people.

Coptic Cathedral of Saint Shenouda

Reviewed By ronscrimgeour

this Coptic Christian cathedral is ion the old town of Hurghada. It will be worth hiring a taxi to do the tour rather than join a hotel group which can take longer to pick up and drop off various people for the city tour. Beautiful stained glass windows that tell this Coptic Christian history. Worth visiting on Friday around non when the children are off school and a there is a party atmosphere
